My mom told me she was depressed about a year and half ago. She's been in this funk ever since. Ever since she lost her mom about 7 months ago she's been in a worse funk than it was before. I need some advice. Its the holidays I'd love to see her smile again.

Is your mom in any kind of therapy? The best advice I can give you is to be patient with your mom and understand this is hard for her. You may ask her if there are any activities that you could plan that she may find enjoyable, sometimes it can be little things that can help you through depression.
I hope somebody else has some better suggestions, happy holidays.

welcome to our community, pp21!!
you stated that your mom has felt depressed for quite a while before her mom died. she might benefit by seeing a pdoc for depression or at least a diagnosis if there is any. sometimes life throws up situational depression. i don't know if this is her case or not but if you are worried about your mom, it's worth looking into.
you sound like a loving daughter and i hope this works out for both of you. keep posting if it helps you cause we all support each other in the best way we can. we are always here for you and your mom.
