What is it about this time of year always brings out my most depressive syptoms. It seems like every year around the holidays I am depressed. I hate this time and know I'm ruining it for others around me. I just cannot seem to be happy. Anybody know what I mean. I feel like I have no right to feel this way but I do.

there's a few things about the holidays that could be the cause. It's normal. I remember reading about it and stuff even.
Holidays mark time. You can see that a year has passed, you still/now are thinking about what has happened in this time and ![]() Either you're alone for the holidays (automatic ![]() sometimes there's pressure to "be happy" because everyone around you is... but you're just not ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm sorry this is a rough time, it's not wrong to feel this way though

I agree that there are several reasons that holidays can bring depressive symptoms out even more then normal. Just know that this is normal, this time of year brings me down every year for a number of reasons. ![]() ![]() ![]()

There are a lot of things that can be the cause. The weather in itself at this time of year can bring anyone down... You're not alone though, I'm struggling also and I know others are too. We just gotta watch each other's backs eh? Take care... and look after and treat yourself this holiday season ![]() Molly

many people are sad, frustrated, distressed for all the reasons already mentioned and also because they may have had past troubles and so the holidays remind them of not so great things. plus, there is a HUGE amount of HYPE!!!!! the public is bombarded with all kind of messages, most of them idealized and unattainable by most of us.
try to hang in there and guard your heart. leslie

Everyone in my immediate family (Mom, dad, brother) but me seems to get down this time of year. Unless you count step-parents and their kids, my step-dad and sister likes the season as long as there is something fun to do in all of that snow
![]() As for the holidays themselves they are okay, pretty much everyone but me (again) seems to have the attitude of "let's just get this stupid thing over as soon as possible" which is kinda a downer until the day those holidays actually come around and everyone is chipper. I don't think it's that unusual to get depressive this time of year and it's no use to fake enthusiasm |
