I was put on Abilify about 2 years ago for my ocd and delusional thinking. It saved my life. I saw a commercial this week stating that psychs are now using it to augment sluggish working antidepressants. Anyone here taking it?

I saw it too. Now, not only is it for OCD and Mania, it's to augment anti-depressants. Wow!
I was on it for OCD too. However, I hated it. I went from hypomania to a very flat, zombie mood. So, I asked my doc to take me off of it.
It's interesting how differently different people react to the same meds.
I'm very glad it worked for you!
I did find other meds for the OCD that did work, though. Zoloft, luvox, and lexapro. (not all at once)

I was obsessively checking my body for diseases 8-10 hours a day. Had two car wrecks because I was checking while driving. I was measuring my temperature about every two minutes. My life was a living h*ll, literally. Actually no, I had no life. First they put me on 8-9 mg of Xanax a day and I was a sleeping zombie, checking while I WAS awake. I called my psych one day screaming, literally for help. He put me on 20 mg of Abilify first and that sort of calmed the storm. Then we went up to 40 mg. and that is where I have stayed. I have tried to reduce back down to 20 mg a day but it just doesn't work.
As for augmenting the antidepressants---I am bp2 and have MANY more chronic severe episodes of depression than I do manias (I only wish it were the other way *smile*). My depression has slowly subsided since being on the Abilify too. I am actually functioning quite well for now.

yeah, i've been on abilify to augment my other ADs. it helped as an 'activating' drug for me - gave me energy in the mornings, helped me get out of bed and keep going. i havent noticed that it's done much else, and lately i've been cutting back on the number of meds i'm taking, so abilify was one of the first to go. but if i slump back into a lazy depression again it's great to give me a boost.

my boyfriend was just put on wellbutrin and abilify and he says it (the abilify) makes him see sparkles and feel like he's surrounded by clouds, like it pushes reality farther away. has anyone else had that, or does that sound normal?

I'm on wellbutrin, abilify and effexor. the abilify for me is for schizophrenia related illness but i have major depression too so thought it would help with that. it has made me really tired and fat. I've gained sixty pounds in a year! and now no matter what i do the weight won't come off. Overall though i think abilify is a good drug, it's just i must be overly sensitive to the side effects.
