Hi, all.

Just wondering, is it possible to feel happy when you are depressed ?

Sounds like a contradiction in terms, but I am definitely depressed but I can have a moment of happiness.

I know for sure when you are in the deepest depths of it, happy is not an option - is anything ? !

But when you are coasting along, does anyone else know what I mean ?

i think i know what you mean... i think its more a case of when your deepressed, you feel something, when your not you dont really know how to feel, and its this comfort of actually feeling some sort of emotion that makes you 'happy', if that makes any sence :S

Hi Poppet,

I have read that depression can include moments of euphoria, although they don't usually last long, and I have felt that.

For me, it's like our feelings gave become unsteady, wobbly, and we can go up and down dramatically rather than just living a regular life.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, I think we are looking to get a handle on this wobbliness, cope with it, and regain control over our lives.

It's still nice to get the feelgood factor now and then, and who would blame us?

Cheers, Myzen.

PS - I think it is also possible to feel shielded, like in cotton wool, when we are in depression and I think that can be a seductive feeling.

Take care.....Poppet
