Hi Manda!

Sometimes switching in and out means that someone needs your attention. It may or may not be little Manda. What better way to get attention than trying to be present in the body, often at inappropriate times. I think all DID diagnosed individuals have experienced this at one time or another and it can be confusing and frustrating.

It’s important to be in touch with your system and give wide latitude to those who are trying to come forward. Communication is the key. However, it is not always easy because often the person wanting to come forward doesn’t know what to do or say once he/she is in the body and, out of fear or sudden discomfort, quickly retreats which results in recurrent switching. Sometimes we just have to go with it and know that eventually it will stop. Other times, simply honouring the person who wants to be there and asking what he/she needs will give him/her enough courage to speak.

I hope the switching will ends soon as I know how disconcerting it can be. Be assured that it will eventually stop.

Take care of you!
