Having been inpatient several times I know that you can get a lot of work done. It's intensive, but it keeps you safe while working through things. I also have gotten a LOT just out of being with others that have similar diagnoses as I do, really makes you feel not so alone. And, sometimes, there are some fun times and there's a lot more laughing than one would "expect" at a psych hospital (of course, along with those tears). Will you be going to a facility that specializes in DID/trauma? You can learn a lot.
Good luck, and try to not be too scared...it's really not that bad.

thank you for the encouragement. Looks like we'll be going to the trauma healing center in Santa fe for at least a month. I'm starting to feel relieved actually.

They want me to go because we can't eat and have lost like 30lb in the last two months. Can't sleep or leave the house. Taking too many pills and started cutting again. I guess it is a good thing. Thank you for caring.

I know it is scary and seems sad and lonely, but I have to say that I'm proud of you!!

You recognize your needs and you are listening to your family and friends who care and by making this commitment to yourself you are practicing good self care!! This is very wise of you!!

I would not want to go either, but I remember when I went inpatient and it really was a relief once I acknowledged I needed the help and I let people help me.

Just take one step at a time and breathe. We are all here for you now...we will be here supporting you during your stay, even if we can't communicate as often....and we will be here to support you when you return!!

Even though this is really difficult for you, I think it could be a positive too.

Here for you!!

Dear Dream,

It sounds like a good safe place to be. You dont have to be responsible for anybody else. You are there to be taken care of. Relax and breathe hun.

going inpatient always sounds so scary.............fear of the unknown but usually once we get there we can focus on only us and recieve the help and support that we despartely need. It is so good the those closest to you care enough to see that you are in need of this more intensive help.

take long slow deep breaths and know that we will alll be thinking of you and hoping that the experience is a positive and beneficial one for you.

Take care and good luck from us all............................. its so good that you can see that yes you do need some more help........ be very proud of that and yourself

silentones
hugs if ok..................be gentle with you

I will keep you in my thoughts. It sounds like a good decision. I find when I am inpatient my system gets lots done and for us it is also a safe place to rest.

That will be so helpful and comforting to you. I hope you get a lot out of it and know that we'll be here waiting for you to get "home".

i dont even know where to begin. I think I'm losing it. . . Hubby is the one who said in the first place that I should go inpatient no matter what the cost. Well, soon my work and T were saying the same thing and yesterday my work and T had a meeting with me and I got paid administrative leave and then short-term disablility. So I am off work for 45 days and trying to get into the hosp. I had a phone intake today and found out that my part after insurance will be like 13,000!!! My credit union said that they will loan me 10k and the payment will be pretty low, so I called hubby to tell him because he said he wanted to know right away. well, he just got really mad and said, no way, I'm not signing for that, I don't want any debt. So, wtf!!!! I started this whole process at his urging and we have just been fighting non-stop. One minute he says I should go and the next he says he's nervous and doesn't want the debt. . .He turns everything I say around and then we got into a big fight in the garage and he was just misunderstanding everything I was saying and being so mad so I said please stop, I'm too fragile and he just laughed at me and I just hit my head on the washing mashine and he said "yeah, hit your head, that's good, do it! do it! yeah, harder, harder!!" and so I just hit my head so many times and then he kept saying to do it and then he said "here, I'll do it too" and just slammed his head into the washer.
I went inside to leave and our seven year old son was in the bath and when I went in there, he was curled up and crying and said "I heard loud sound that were scary and yelling and I'm scared" He has never heard us fight like this before! everything is so out of control and now I don't even know if I can pull off going inpatient. . .except I think It might just save my life right now. . .

I wish I had words of wisdom or anything that would help ease this awful stress. IMO , the way your husband treated you i.e. " "yeah, hit your head, that's good, do it! do it! yeah, harder, harder!!" was wayyyy innappropriate and harmful. I'm so sorry he did that. (Sorry if I shouldn't have said that) I don't mean to judge.
I can understand not wanting to be in debt and the cost of some of these inpatient programs is prohibative, but the #1 priority is YOUR LIFE.
There has to be a place that is good, safe, helpful and cheaper. In the end, all the inpatient help is worthless if the way you are treated irl is sucking the life out of you. Please stay safe and let us know how this is going. We do care.
Thanks for this!
