We have a new little girl with us. Her name is Madeline (Maddie for short).
We believe poor little Maddie is autistic. She does not like hugs. She cringes if we try to give them to her.
She is fascinated with lights. She will just sit and stare at a light (probably for hours if we would let her).
She does not speak. She will just sit and rock back and forth while sucking her thumb.

How do we break though the invisible wall that separates her and us?

I have a little like that. He is a boy who is 5yrs old. He stays under the stairs and likes Legos. He says nothing at all. I did well to find out his name from him! And he also will just look at light and rocks. I suppose we just have to be patient with them. I do have a protector alter and we have started having "house" meetings and I wanted him to come. He shows up but always hiding behind the protector alter.

Hi Manda,
Sometimes the alters are just too scared. You are dealing with a very young mind. They have been taught that contact is bad, so they do not like to be touched. You may have just spend time just sitting with her, allowing her time to adjust to you caring about her. She is not use to that. Also alters can become damaged from the trauma. Ask another alter for suggestions, but sometimes they may not want to help or can not help.

No... I said that I *thought* her name might be Hannah just because that name kept ringing in my head, and it we always thought she may have autistic or have some type of other disorder, we were just wanted to explain how she acted so you all had a clear understanding. When crystalrose mentioned autism it confirmed it in our minds.

I think support and understanding would be better than criticism under Dissociative Disorders. That is just my opinion of course.

I hope your little becomes safe and happy sooon manda - maybe she is just scared and traumatised - kindness and time may be the answer as it seems to be for many things

and ty Reg - yes we need to be supportive here and help one and other because thats what PC is all about - helping one and another on our healing journey and learning from others as we tread our own paths to healing .

I hope everyone is safe and well - please all take care of yourselves

Molly and Melody say hello to Maddie and say not to worry because Ben doesn't talk at all or do anything except hide and draw green trucks. Vicki said she gets upset when she gets judged and said to tell you we won't judge you and we have a know some autistic kids who can communicate better through pictures instead of talking. we are proud of you for your honesty and putting yourself "out there"; very brave. . .
take care y'all
Vicki (for dreamland) (for Maddie) (for everyone else)

Manda, sorry if you felt judged or like you had to justify your reality. . .we support and validate your reality, I called one part the wrong name for months until another part offered clarification. Good job taking what fits for you and leaving the rest. We support you,
