…When we thought of writing this thread we wanted to give you both the DSM version and the version that we were taught as a child. We have been looking for documentation of this belief but it must still be only kept in oral traditions of the shamanic community should anyone reading this have access to this information in writings please share it with me. And in my defense for not writing it the way it was intended to be taught, remember this was taught to me orally and I have since been though a lot that has not helped me to remember my early training. ................................................

…spirit parts, my inner tribe where created to protect my inner soul. Each part fought bravely to protect each other but when the attack was to strong instead of allowing us to die they built an inner fortress and then created a new part of me to continue where another part could no longer endure. ..............................
…each of my inner tribe members was created with a skill and ability to help protect the whole. We also have spirit guides that help us on our inner journey. .......
…it is only by honoring those that have helped me to survive that I am able to heal. .........................
…when I was first taught soul retrieval. I was still a child. I did the work with my grandmother until she went to the spirit world. I had the gifts and skills to continue but not the person that gave me the safety to look into myself. .............................................
…soul retrieval is the process in which you reunite your inner soul that has been separated. (healing alters)
… once a soul part has been retrieved, You still must help that part to heal to acknowledge that what it had endured saved your life. ......................................
…You do this by first finding its fears and then providing it with safety. ...................................................
…No matter what do not disqualify anything this part has to share. This part has its own memory and history and has to be accepted in order to become one with the inner tribe. ......................................................
… Forgiveness is the ability to let go of the dream of a better past. There are some memoirs that make you want to have revenge. That is the dark way. It is only by letting go of the hurt and anger that you will truly heal. The best revenge is to live well and prosper. ...

In truth when they accept that your spirit parts are all part of the whole person but parts that have been frozen in time it will allow them to accept you and your parts as being many, yet one.

In truth the outside safety provided by others does help the healing, accepting individual parts that were frozen in time, yes! Then when we see them all together the we can become I. It's like being so so so loved as to become whole even though all parts still there.

We thank you Great Spirit God and the Wise One and the Wise Learners of the tradition that we have the way to see the spiritual way more clearly that kept us alive for the purpose.
