I was recently fired from my job as a medical assistant that I have been doing for the last 6 years with the same doctor.
My best friend told my doctor about me having Dissociative Identity Disorder.
They started treating me like I was a liability to them instead of an asset. They kept watching me in all that I did. Other employees remarked on how come they were all of a sudden watching me?
I feel terrible about myself now and have to find my life all over again. I don't think I can trust anyone anymore. This was a private matter that I thought I could trust my friend in.
I hate feeling that I am wierd and must hide what I am from everyone or this may happen again. If you can't trust a best friend who can you trust?
There are times when you just need to talk to someone about your mental illness because you can't keep it bottled up inside for ever. I picked the wrong one. Now my life is all messed up. Need help...

I am so sorry! You can always come here and say whatever you want, there are plenty here who can relate ( you'd be surprised! ) It's a shame that someone you trusted betrayed you, sometimes people just don't understand that it takes so very much for some of us to offer up anything private about ourselves. They don't understand what an honor it is that they are trusted. Your friend was very wrong. Your employers were VERY WRONG. If they fired you because of your mental issues, it was CRIMINAL. Take care of you.

Hugs,
Kimberly ~

((((((((((((((((karan)))))))))))))))))) first of all, i'd like to welcome you, then tell you how sorry i was to have read your post.

secondly, i'd like to say that your employer firing a good employee of 6 yrs after he found out she is DID is illegal. you need to contact unemployment first, and then contact your local NAMI office...also visit the website at www.NAMI.org. unless there was other good reason for firing you, what they've done is discrimination and it's illegal.

i'm so sorry that your trust was violated...especially to such a degree. we're here. we're listeing. we're eager to support you through this.

what reason did your dr give for firing?

how rough! Loss of job due to DID exposure welcome to the forums although i wish that happier circumstances had brought you our way. it is safe here. please keep us updated with how you are doing. what a horrible thing for them to do. i hope that there is some way for you to get some sort of compensation from that. like Kimmy and ktp said, that's illegal.

if you need any help with anything or just want to talk, feel free to PM me. please take care!

Welcome to the forums, karan. Loss of job due to DID exposure
I found it safer to never tell anyone irl that i was DID until i retired from the work force. Loss of job due to DID exposure
You deserve friends with more brains than to betray you like that.
It would be illegal here to fire you for that, but it may not be worth a fight if it becomes public.
I only told my husband of 39 years this year, & a couple of people i know irl also. Loss of job due to DID exposure
PM any time if you want to talk.
