I've created personalities/characters in my head in which I fall into in certain situations. They have different names, faces, etc. I "turn into" them when I myself can no longer handle a situation. I switch alters constantly and it's so frustrating. I'm not sure if I should talk to my psychiatrist about this or not?

Papertiger,

I have a little difficulty with your word 'created' but I hope for all the best to you.

Hi Papertiger. Welcome to Psych Central! We are glad you're here.

So many people here experience so many different symptoms. If this is interfering with your quality of life, I definitely think it's worth talking to a professional.

Again, welcome here. I hope you will find some good support.

Hi there papertiger and welcome to PC. I think it would be a good thing to talk about with your psychiatrist. Do you have a therapist/do you see your psychiatrist to talk as well as for meds? It might be helpful for you to talk about it and figure out more about it =)

Hi and welcome to PC. Looking forward to hearing more from you. I think talking to your psychiatrist would be good. They can help you to find some sort of understanding. Glad you are here. Sending gentle hugs.
