What if... one never completely dissociates when one's alters take turns being "present"? What if... one's "core" is always discernable to others through one's alters (except in rare cases of extreme distress)? What if one's alters have titles, but not names... personalities but not histories... voices but not faces?

And what if one is not diagnosed, and never wants to be...

Would such a one be welcome, here?

Lacer Vita Hi and to PC!

You have a right to be here and there are Some good people here....

In my opinion, you have found a Gold Mine of people that cares

and if your keeping a list, you can put me on it.

this is a safe hug ((((((( Lacer Vita)))))))

and I for one am glad your here....

The feelings you were describing its called "Healing" and I am proof you can make it through healing

no, it was not fun and it was not especially fun to get to know my inside people however, thank goodness I did because each part has something HUGE that makes up YOU as a system, healing to me is like a well oiled machine if you choose to not heal then that machine gets rusted if not oiled.

Does that make sense......?

again and way to go at posting, your much better off then when I started here.

Take care, your new friend,
Crew

You mean being co-conscious?

coconscious:
In dissociative identity disorder, the term used to refer to a subordinate personality that is fully aware of the dominant personality's thoughts and actions.

It's part of DID, so I would say, yes..

Thank you so much, kind Crew. I feel welcomed, indeed.

I have a question about healing... it doesn't mean getting "past" one's alters, does it? Because I'm just now accepting my Many. We're just now learning to appreciate each other, after a long and painful struggle with separation. I do want healing... as long as that entails me, remaining my Whole self/selves. One of my alters had a particularly rough time of it, and I will not forsake her again - even though there is much pain to be faced through her.

Thank you, again... I am so glad to be somewhere I can talk about Us. While I am blessed with priceless friends who accept... I want some time with those who understand, as well.

Healing doesn't necessarily mean "getting past" your alters or I guess you could say 'integration'...

Integration...

It is amazing. I've found a place where people speak my language.
I've been wanting.. hoping.. trying to find integration for so long, now.
Not a cutting off... but a uniting.
Is it... actually possible?
Does it actually happen?

* Wait. Did I just contradict myself, here?
I want to hold on to my Selves...
But I also want to integrate Them.
Which is it?
Which is it.....
I have no idea.

Lacer_Vita,

Exactly!

Welcome! We know this feeling. It is a sense of relief. It is a wonderful feeling, a sense of exuberance and brings hope when we find people who understand!

Hmmm... I would say that you were a friend of mine that I just sent a link to this site but I know the name they would use so you're not them! Oh, and they do use the diagnosis. My goodness you have a lot in common. You are not alone.
For me, and my friend when they show up healing is about being happy and functional. She did some integration with some parts. She is now down to a core few and they all work together and do not feel a need to integrate any further. They meet together and come up with stratigies to use her system/parts in ways that fully maximize capability. It is truly elegant 96% of the time. There are the occasional squabbles and parts going MIA for a while but all in all it works.

I on the other hand still have a mixed bag, most of whom are not talking to me right now. Ahh how I love being out and clueless.

Please note: Many of us have different terms we use to talk about our multiplicity. I have used my terminology in this post not my friends. It is important to me not to "out" them and to allow them to make their own introductions as they choose. I leave it up to my friend to decide if they wish to out themselves in this post or not (I am not particularly well "disguised" for those that support me). If they chose not to I am confident that you two will stumble upon eachother and hit it off rather well.

& Is Co conscious necessarily present in every DID patients? Like, they are patients having multiple alters and each one is totally unfamiliar with the other?

For us, co-conscious means having 2 or more alters present as well as the host at the same time, and all are aware of everything that's going on..

that's what we were gonna say, except for one little correction:
we have learned that "host" actually refers to the one in the system who is out the most.
So, in essence, a system can have more than one host.
"Core" is the term that we have started using in reference to the one that the body belongs to... who's name is on the birth certificate, etc.
