I went to my appointment this afternoon. I was there till 5pm an hour and a half. Doctor seemed nice, kind of a nut, had ice hockey pictures hanging up in the exam room. Was different. But had the nurse practitioner do most of my paperwork with me. And I just explained I couldn't be awake for the exam because I have PTSD and left it at that. She said she would make sure that they would have me completely out because of the PTSD and the anxiety the exam will cause. I didn't feel like going into this long thing trying to tell them about the DID, and not to people I meet 5 seconds ago. But she seemed to really understand my fears and was OK with it. They were all nice. After the doctor talked to me he had me meet with another nurse to set up my exam and give me all the information I needed and the 4 prescriptions for the prep stuff. EKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
My exam isn't until Nov. 14th and I have to be at the hospital at 6am. Long Day I'm not a morning person and the really bad thing is that the hospital is 20 miles away too. So we are going to have to leave really early in the morning. They say to plan on being there at least 4 hours if not more. H was upset when I told him and said what am I suppose to do for 4 hours? Said I don't know I'll be asleep most of the time. Being hungry and sleepy = grumpy Monty
hum hum that's my long day. I have a headache so I'm going to sleep. Night

Glad that it went well today - it's great that they understood your dears and concerns and responded to them.
Once you get to the hospital in NOvember you will probably have to have some premeds and that will make the time passs more quickly. Otherwise maybe you can thing of something you can take with you to help the time pass - a good book, magazines, a letter to reply to, that sort of stuff?
Good thoughts coming your way.

I like Caroline's suggestions, maybe you can think towards how to make that day as bearable as possible, start preparing a bag of goodies.

I could go with you Gumby_Gal, if you would feel better.

You could put me in your pocket and I could be like ZuZu's petals in that movie What A Wonderful Life!

I know how you feel. I have to go to the hospital again on 24th and I am scared.

Be gentle with yourself and keep telling yourself it WILL be OK.

the worse part of the procedure is the waiting for the day to come and waiting in the lobby. It will be over before you know it.

What helps me each time is I am constantly writing - what I want to dream about or think about. (be carefull for you will indeed be dreaming about it if you think about it before hand enough. patrick swayze and I had a great dirty dancing time.) LOL

Come on think about the one thing on earth outragous or not that you have always wanted to be experiencing and write it out adding as many minute details as possible then in the lobby while waiting for your name to be called read that notebook and think about it as they add the anestesia like meds to the IV line and your off to the best hypnotic experience you could ever want or ask for. Works every time for me.

I hope Monday goes well for you. Maybe you can really treat yourself this weekend, to help you relax and de-stress. You deserve it!
