Can getting emdr make ya switch more? Kinda like after shock? Cause it sure brings things to surface quickly but is almost debilitating to us

I'm not sure about the switching part, but I've been doing the EMDR as well..and yes the point is to bring things to the surface and hopefully reduce the emotional impact and association that goes with the memories...your T should have prepared you for this and have a "safe place" that you have created to go to heal if it gets to be too much..I hope that is the case... If not, try other sources of self soothing that he/she has taught you and allow the feeling to go through and pass along. Stopping them and re-burying them will not be the answer and will, in the end be more hurtful. Please talk to your T openly if they are leaving you too raw at the end of the sessions. Often you have to plan on longer sessions or more frequent sessions while doing that kind of work intensely to allow time for the emotions and memories to come up and then recede while with your T. Sometimes we have to be a little extra brave and clearly ask for what we need from our support teams, no? I hope some of this might help just a little... You can also come into the Garden to relax and be supported and just see some relaxing images or music that might help soothe you as well. You might also read some of the other threads where friends have soothed other friends with ideas for relaxation or breathing.. Just a few ideas to add to your "toolbox" of healing.. So glad you are reaching out... Hopefully some of your other new friends will have even better advice for you.. I too am sort of new here... Let me know if there is anything else that I can do to help or anything you'd like to see that might bring you an extra measure of peace, and I'd be happy to go and find if I can...I post most stuff under 'someone special' which you definitely are too! Come and relax with us if you up to it... Wysteria Blue

I'm so sorry, I can't answer that part...I'm not DID. I have a dissociative disorder and depression/trauma, but I cannot answer that part. I hope one of our other friends will jump in here and help us out a bit. The only thing that I can think of would be to plan your main sessions on Fridays to give you the weekends to process and more frequency with your T to get her to help you process more quickly which ones are being triggered and perhaps why... and then how to soothe them... I hope I have helped just a little...I know how it feels to be so raw after those sessions and how painful the process can be, but hopefully it will bring you healing and resolution to some of your trauma work as well.. little hugs... I’m not familiar with EMDR but that’s a good idea. If you could change your day and have the weekend to recover it might make things easier.
