I have both and am looking for people with this co-morbidity. What are specific challenges, how can the dissociation T get up to speed on Bipolar, is it the case for you that a particular part is "holding the mania", etc. Very eager to learn.

I don't have DDNOS, I was diagnosed DID but since my alters and I are not co conscious, I have a difficult time understanding the DID. But I do understand the dissociation in general.. Well I don't but I can understand how it feels. From day dreaming to depersonalization to out of body experiences to blackouts. I also do have bipolar I and was diagnosed manic depressive 10 years ago. My mania gets the best of me very often. It's a strange mix is it not? My bipolar gets to the point of hearing and seeing things, and so does my dissociation. It's kind of a strange mix that makes up me. Many other things as well but the bipolar and dissociation I would have to admit are the main ones to cause impact on my life.

I may not be able to help 100% but any questions you may have about my experiences I am very willing to share. The way the mind works is so absolutely incredible and complex I thrive on listening to others experiences and learning from them and hope others can do the same with my experiences. Anyway I can help, or any thing you wonder just let me know

I have bipolar and I have dissociative issues and Im a therapist. my own issues aside I learned about bipolar disorder in my college classes to become a therapist, and in my internship which here where I live internship is hands on work with supervisors in the mental health agency and working with clients of all kinds of mental disorders.

to learn about mental disorders you can

contact your own treatment providers. they can help you focus your studys according to what exactly you need to learn.

start hitting the books. libraries, amazon and other book sites have lots of information about all kinds of mental disorders. all you need to do is type in what mental disorder you want to learn about and you will have loads of books to read on the subjects.

your own mental health treatment providers can also give you a list of books to read and may even have some books on their office book shelves and desks that you can read.

you can also enroll in a college psych class. almost every psych class out there deals with some sort of mental disorders including bipolar disorder.

you can also visit college bookstores. you dont have to be in college to buy the books in their bookstores.

you can do internet searches on the topic just by typing in bipolar disorder and DDNOS I got 16,200 results thats minus any repeating results.

many mental health websites like here have research sections and information sections about mental disorders too.

your family doctor will also have information pamphlets about mental disorders and can refer you to a psychiatrist or therapist.

you can also open the phone book. here there are loads of psychiatrists and therapists and mental health agencies listed. they were very helpful to me when I needed to do research papers on all kinds of mental disorders for my college classes.

there is no limit to how you can learn about mental disorders.

for me no my alternate personalities did not hold the mania symptoms nor my depression symptoms that come with my having bipolar disorder. it is I the aware self that was diagnosed with it, not any of my alters. though I did have a few alters that had an eating disorder

you said you have both DDNOS and Bipolar talk with your treatment providers and they can tell you if you have any alters that have bipolar or if its just you the host that has it. there are tests and things they can do to distinguish what problems are the alters and what problems are the hosts.

I was dx'd with DID , and Bipolar 2. I get hypomanic and severly depressed. For me, I don't feel the bipolar is any part of the DID. It's two separate issues and can be very strange to experience.

Hi Natalya, I'm dxd Bipolar I with Dissociative Disorder. I'd love to talk about having those two dx. I couldn't tell from your post if you had DID. As far as I know I don't have alters, my dissociations usually only result in out-of-body experiences/depersonalization/derealizations. I guess that puts me in the NOS category!
