Hey welcome and glad you made it. This sites got more then what we are used to on NAMI but don't panic. Take it one step at a time and you will be ok. -

Clicking on inbox will give you a page that lets you read any private messages (not readable on the boards) you recieve from people here. You can also send someone else a private message. to do that you click on reply at the bottom after reading what they sent you. or you can click on the persons name on the boards and then at the bottom of that page click on send this user a private message.

There is a calendar here that keeps track of what the day is and whos birthday it is that day.

photos is the members picture galleries (personal pictures that they want to share with others here).

Chat = chat rooms where you can talk to others that are on line. I was thouroughly confused by it. But I am sure there are others here that can help you with that.

FAQ= Frequesntly Asked Questions - basically the rules of this place.

Main index brings you back to the page that lists all the discussion message boards.

Blog look confusing but it isnt. To read them Click on "blog" then along the side of that page you will see the words - get your own. That will take you into the members area. At the top of the page is the word - users. This is a list of all the members that have blogs here. Clicking on the name or title of the blog will get you into reading what that person wrote.

You can also read the blogs by entry - along the side of the first page (same page you find the word users on - you will find a list of most popular blogs, most commented blogs and most viewed. clicking on any of those or the ones in the middle of the page where the recently posted entrys are will get you into the persons blog.

Feel free to post anything, and ask anything. The moderators are great here. Almost as fast as you ask one a question during the day either by private message or on the boards you get an answer.

and my favorite get a load of the smilies. they are so cool.

Seems this forum is SO BIG, and scary, but would like to reach out to others and continue to learn ourselves, and offer what support we can. Need to understand more about stuff, inside out & outside in stuff, parts of us have a strong medical background, have been working in healthcare many years, hiding all, watching, keep you friends close but keep your enemies closer, not real enemies just scarier than most, can cause big hurt at times to remember, so you have to be very careful here and outside, but I am glad to try. I am very much a nurturer, learning there are good people, just have to stay away from the BMO’s (Big Mean Ones) smile…different parts different skills, please be patient and thank you. I really can be very confluent at times, other times not so much, but let that be our little secret.

Thank you KD.

I attend a DID support group real time, but here I can just be without trying to shut the window, speak/put voice, what is in my mind, which is scarier than even being real, they encourage me to try and connect and it can be confusing, my Therapist thinks it is a great idea, to attend the real time Group to learn to be around others without the window closed, but I feel pressure there because I am always trying to read others. I feel like I have to force it out (words) in front of them, and so communication, like here when I am scared, can become cryptic when I am switching, because I am used to behaving in a very analytical manner due to my work, talking this thru is so very very hard. I post on another forum, where we that are us do share experiences, but most of the time when I speak its from a distance like I am talking about someone else’s life, I am okay to a point, but get close up, into the hurt, and my facade crumbles, this is what I need help with the most. Thank you for welcoming us. Here there are more, again scary, but from what I see, very supportive of each other, which is very heart warming as all struggle with being lost.
