So my T wanted to try somatic experiencing. I was alright at first. I was relaxed and feeling fine, but my body was feeling numb. My T wanted me to become more aware of what was feeling. So tried to be more focused in what I was feeling. Then my left arm starting aching and stomach felt as if was being kicked in stomach. T tried to get me to safe and I since it was end of session and didnt want to make her late told her was fine.
I was trembling after appt and when got back home had terrible flashbacks and nightmares. The worse thing is somatic experiencing was supposed to be easier therapy and T was excited about it. Now feel like shattered her hopes about this therapy |

My heart goes out to you.
Flashbacks and nightmares stink the big one. Body memories are the worst IMO. Uggs! I encourage you to allow yourself to just feel whatever is being brought up. Don't fight it. Your body has to remember and bring it to your consciousness in order for you to heal through it. Pushing it away will only delay the processing of it. If you need to, write out your experiences in a journal or emails to your T if that is allowed. I had to do that in order to survive the somatic processing part. Document what you experience and allow it to just be there. You will get through it. And you will experience healing once you process this fully. BIG safe hugs to you!

I have alters that shake alters , that have flashbacks and leave me in completely horrible state like the one you described. I tend to have these when I am alone and its terribly isolating.
The good part is that you are experiencing these in the safety of your therapists office. So if there is any place to have these experiences, you are in the right place. Hang in there |

Oh my how awful indeed. Afraid of time being over and not ready. Congratulations on getting home safely. Perhaps upon your next visit with T you can plan what to do if not in a good place or if things continue well into the night. And what claritytoo says is true, but personally i find it hard not to try to take care of them too. A very very gentle hand to hold and safe wishes for a hug for you.
