Hi fellow members I'm diagnosed with DID and lately I've had a few things going on that I've never experienced before,I'm just interested to see if anyone else has had this happen to them?and is it a part of DID?
Firstly I keep dreaming about years ago and when I awake I can't figure out if its really happening to me at this time in life or not,if this makes sense.
For example say if I dreamt about an ex partner when I awake I don't know if I'm still with this person or not,it takes me around an hour to figure it out. I seem to float in and out of sleep about 20 times a night.
Another thing is I dream about things that happen the next day or a couple of days after, things that I couldn't of possibly known about?,I don't claim to be a psychic or anything its just an issue I've had for years.
I know it might sound ridiculous to some but its every single night and its driving me mad!
Any advice or personal experiences you could share would be so much appreciated
Take care
Jk

Around here where I live and work dreaming about something and then it seems to happen a few days later is called De Ja Vu.. its not a DID symptom and isnt part of any diagnostics for DID. Even normal people go through this sometimes.

Around here where I live and work, the dreaming about things in the past and not knowing if they are still happening or not is called having flashbacks, and having hallucinations. it can be part of things like PTSD if some sort of stress or trauma was involved with that past event. It can be part of having psychosis with many mental disorders.. but specifically DID no I dont know any DID symptoms that include this and its not one of the diagnostic criteria for it either. like the other, even normal people have times when they dream about past events and relive past events.

I have had some of these same kinds of dreams. depending upon the dream content, whats going on in my life, what medications Im on and a whole bunch of other things it was diagnosed as PTSD and Anxiety problems along with completely normal daja vu.

my suggestion talk with your treatment providers, tell them what is going on. they can help you discover whether you are having flashbacks, hallucinations/delusional anxiety or what ever symptoms these may be for you..

Hi thanks for your response,I thought deja vu is when something seems similar that's already happened, not something that hasn't happened yet? I could be wrong?
Your right about the PTSD though and the possibility of flashbacks that's a good piece or knowledge you've given me there and I will be speaking to my therapist about it.

Thanks for your great advice
Take care

I have very vivid dreams that I also float in and out of. I will scream to wake up. And then wake up still in a dream. When I started to become coconsious of my parts I started to realize it through sleep. I would think I was dreaming something that they did. Like I would think that I wrote an email and it was a vivid dream, but really it was an alter writing the email. I am on Prozasin because the nightmares are horrific at times, and that seems to help a lot.
