Hi, I'm AJ. I'm usually around in the Self Injury forum, but I need some help from here.
I was just wondering if it is common for people with dissociative disorders to experience "lost time" while the other personalities take over? Has anyone here experienced "lost time"? Thanks. - AJ |

My husband does. He's unaware of the time passing while the others are "in charge". When he comes back to the front, he's always surprised at "how late it is". Since he knows about The Guys, he's not as bewildered as he used to be - he knows where the time went now. But he doesn't experience it passing at all. He loses whatever time the others take up.

though there is now a dissociative disorder that takes into consideration those that have alternate personalities where they dont have memory problems associated with when alters take control....OSDD (Other Specified Dissociative Disorder) you can read more about what american treatment providers are now going by in regards to the dissociative disorders here.... http://forums.psychcentral.com/disso...s-dsm-5-a.html please know that other locations, race, religions, cultures...may be going by other standards. |

Of course, it's one of the main symptoms of DID.
I'm some kind of exception (as an alter) because I'm some kind of gatekeeper, so I'm always aware of what's happening (well, not always, yet most of the time). itzbadddforutusmoke ![]() Ugh, that was Tommy. Sorry for this weirdness, just ignore that ![]() As I was saying, me myself I don't loose time usually, but other alters -especially Tom, the host- do. Unless they're co-conscious. If they're co-conscious (some kind of "two alters in control"), they usually remember what happened but it's a bit "foggy." If only one alter was in control, depending on how far it's from Tom, he will remember nothing or something. That's a bit complicated. For some reasons, there are alters "next to" Tom (Alex, Tommy, Allie and me). They're perhaps more "integrated" with Tom - well, no integration yet... But I mean, all of them are ANPs (Apparently Normal Personalities), they don't really hold any traumas but they hold a "way to be" or a way to handle with situations (Alex for example is "the way a teen should act like"). That's perhaps why they're more next to Tom, because they have nothing "bad" linked to them. Hope this had sense! ![]() Cheers, Lana Lifelies
