A while ago....back at the end of July I believe, I posted a thread of things happening to me asking some thoughts from y'all. At that point I started seeing a therapist at a local VA which I've had very good luck with. She is very supportive and understanding. On Tuesday I had an appointment with her on Tuesday and found out that she had changed my diagnosis form schizoaffective to DID and also changed up my meds. She also set me up with a clinical social worker that specializes in cognitive behavior therapy.
What I'm wondering is if anyone has had any dealings with a clinical social worker and how it went and also on the whole CBT thing. I've never heard of either. Any input on either would be appreciated. |

I've had a clinical social worker. Mine did everything a therapist does plus helped me fill out my disability applications. I really liked CBT. It is changing your negative thoughts in order to change feelings. Very helpful. It included work to do in my own time, which I liked. Homework. I hope your experience is as positive as mine was.

I've never had a clinical social worker but I've done work with cbt. I took a class last year that combined cbt with dbt (dialectical behavioural therapy) which was amazingly helpful for me. It took cbt, added the helpful emotion-regulation parts of dbt and gave me the opportunity to think about things in a different aspect. I hope it works well for you! Good luck with it all, and don't forget to ask questions if you are unsure about anything!
