I can't believe this happened. I told my T how law enforcement told me the statute of limitations was run out on childhood SA case even though all the laws say in my state
there is no statute of limitations for SA in my state on a child under the age of 15. She said she was told the report goes to social svcs rather than law enforcement. So while I was with my T, I called social svcs today. The social worker was horrible to me when she found out I was reporting past abuse and not a present situation. She acted like I was wasting her time. I saw a commercial tonight for windshield replacement and the call rep pn that commercial had mor compassion and empathy for this dude's cracked windshield than this social worker had for my 15 years of abuse not to mention the death of my brother which she didn't even acknowledge. I work over the phone. How hard is it to say, " I'm sorry for your loss." I applaud this woman for being a social worker. If she helps children, that is awesome. But I deserve a little help too. Even if it' s way too little ; way too late. ![]()

Well let's not lose ALL our faith in the social services system
But I cannot think of a single reason why not. I guess this is it: I.still believe they accomplish some good.

please dont compare what happens on tv to what happens in real life. what you see on tv ads are for money and ratings not for showing compassion. car commercials, like that are scripted they want the public to see a kind, smiling face so that those watching will remember the commercials and go out and buy/pay for those services.... no matter what you do what you see on tv rarely lives up to real life, even so called reality shows are taped in ways that will promote what the networks want the show to be rather than depicting real life. example survivor has gone public with how not real the show really is...how the "cast aways" have to take many repeat that shot or scene until it has the desired emotion affect, body language... that said here in NY we have all kinds of social workers...people done come in this nice molded package and not everyone responds to the same type of social worker, (kind of like not everyone likes the same type of therapist, what fits me may not fit you) so there are strick follow the rules no budging, hard ball social workers and there are the wrap the social service worker around your finger type and there is all kinds in between. suggestion maybe you can ask to talk to someone else that you will be more comfortable with on the phone or you and your treatment provider could go to your social services agency and speak to someone there, sometimes people who answer the phones have to deal with thousands of phone calls a day and that can affect how they deal with another phone call. in person you can also receive any resource information they have, that might fit your situation. |

I called to lodge a complaint against the social worker and the same one answered the phone.

You can do it. Don't tell her who you are, just ask to be transferred to someone who can accept a complaint against them.

The compassion/understanding does seem to differ with who answers the phone.
I honestly think ss are swamped. Lots of people need help. Hang in there! |
