Does anyone else ever get this horrible, creepy uncomfortable feeling like their body and joints and skin are almost numb or floating or not yours and you just want to rip your own skin off or scream and everything feels WRONG? It's like kind of restless leg syndrome but instead restless BODY syndrome. I don't know how to get rid of it.

I get this for many different reasons and is called by many different things by my treatment providers depending upon other accompanying symptoms........medication problems, Multiple Sclerosis, depression, bipolar disorder, allergies, stress, lack of exercise, depersonalization/derealization.......

the first thing I do is contact my treatment providers so that they can do all the assessing/ diagnosing of where this feeling is coming from. sometimes the solution is as simple as medication adjustment/changes or taking some vacation time off work, or working into my schedule more exercise time or getting back on track using the grounding/stress relief tools my treatment providers have taught me during therapy....

I also know some people where that this kind of thing comes with women in the age bracket of 35- 65 as part of peri menopause, menopause and post menopause. there are many medications out now that can help women going through this, some are vitamins, some are hormone therapy some are other things too.....

I know some people who go through this when they are on diet aids like slim fast, weight watchers, and other fad diets or just not eating correctly for their own body...

there are many reasons why a person will have these symptoms and for each person that goes through it the how to get rid of it is different....

my suggestion contact your treatment providers, they can teach you the grounding/ mindfulness tools that can help should this be from a dissociative problem and they can also help if this turns out to be a nutritional / vitamin deficiency or menopausal problem or what ever the problem turns out to be with in you.

Yes I have had this...terrible feeling---want to burst out of my skin---and everything is "off"
Had it way before any meds, some since...makes it hard to stay in the world somehow...and difficult to convince myself that it will, as ever, go away again, ...

Thanks everybody. I'm in instant menopause because of a radical hysterectomy. I think that made it worse. Also it didn't last forever, but yeah feels like it will.

Yes... it's very unnerving. Feels like I'm not really there or something. Disconnected from the rest of everyone else and everything. I don't know what to do about it. But I think it was/is related to my agoraphobia/anxiety.

I learned this from my psychologist this week there is an acronym in psychology that is used in Australia to determine the scale of how much people are dissociated at any particular time. It is B.A.S.K. (Model of dissociation) We can all shift in and out of each, or a combination of the following.

Behavorial - Are you aware of what you are doing?
Affect - Do you know what you are feeling emotionally?
Somatic Sensing - Can you feel what is happening in your body?
Knowledge - Do you remember?

So what we feel (or not feel) in our bodies and minds is part the whole dissociative disorder. (even when it gets scary or creepy or numb).

Yes, I do feel weird in my body at times too.

I hope I explained that well enough. I don't remember what he said. I asked him to write it down for me.

Hello Likewater!
Upon reading your post, I started looking for real-life stories from other women who have gone through an hysterectomy and I found this article. Hope it helps!

I get this exact feeling every few weeks!!! Glad to know I'm not alone. I call it "restless body syndrome" The only thing that helps me is taking my benzodiazepine prescription.
