In our system there is no actual "core". We have a certain amount of co-awareness between each other but not totally. Our therapist came up with an analogy for how we experience our D.I.D.
It's like over the years each part was handed the baton in a relay race. One the new part grabbed it and continued on they became the "age of the body." Over the years that switched off to many other "parts" and the last one holding the baton is the one currently taking the role as the age of the body. Each part knows what the "shells" name is, the name of the body, but each part identifies as having a different name and no one relates to being the birth person. Does anyone else have this experience with their D.I.D.? It's like all of the parts are part of each other and not a part of any core. |

None of us are the one born although I think she is in there somewhere. We have a similar experience except we don't have names. We are who we are when we are out. We answer to the originals name. We understand the body as it's own self apart from us in consciousness. Having it's own consciousness. It was very difficult in the beginning of therapy because we kept trying to understand our diagnosis as being a part of one core consciousness. Once we realized that is not the case as we began to learn more about our system. Putting this in writing sounds so farfetched but it is how we understand ourselves to be.

Like my p'doc likes to say "It's all you" (meaning all the parts).
Have you ever looked closely at an orange? With the skin on it is one thing. A round piece of fruit. However when you look inside all the parts are segmented, but together they make a whole. Hope this makes sense........... ![]() |
