Ever since I can remember, if anything happened like getting really mad, or in a confrontation, I just black out.

And I wake up usually on top of the person hurting them, OR finishing off a sentence.

For example: When I was in 4th grade, I had a really mean teacher, that ruled with an iron fist. One day I was sitting at my desk playing with my pencils, cause that's what I did, and the teacher was currently beating a kids head up against a wall and screaming in his ear. Keep in mind this is normal to me.

Next thing I know I'm standing in front of her and finishing off a sentence. The other kid is curled up against the wall, terrified. She's sitting in the chair looking at me puzzled, and then looks at me and says "hmmm?" as if I have anything else to say.

That's when I shrug and just go back to my desk to go back to work.

There are many more instances like this, and I'm not sure what's happening. Am I crazy? Do I have a multiple personality? Help

If you are still in school you might be able to discuss this with the school counselor. There can be many reasons for what you describe and there are a lot of people with a similar experience. If you are no longer in school you might want to seek out a therapist or counselor to talk to. You have important questions,

I doubt that you are crazy I know a few people that have done that and there is absolutely nothing wrong with them, they just get a little out of control. If you ever feel it coming try to control it, it will be hard but with practice it will get easier.

here where I live and work no this is not multiple personality it is called intermittent explosive disorder. some people I know with it have blackouts associated with their anger others I know literally see red.

mmind you we can not tell you for sure what this anger issue is with in you. only your treatment providers can diagnose what your anger issue is. my suggestion if this continues to bother contact your or a treatment provider ie a medical doctor, therapist psychiatrist off line in your real location. they will be able to tell you what this anger issue is called with in you and how to treat it so that it doesnt keep happening.

What other kind of people have this experience, and what could cause it? I'm embaressed to bring it up, because I've gotten strange reactions in the past. :[

all kinds of people/all kinds of mental and physical health problems can have the same symptoms such as this. what causes it well theres as many causes as there are people in the world. what I mean by that is that each person has their own body type, problems, history, genetics, gosh so much goes into what causes a person to have black outs when angry. sometimes its as simple as the person was just not getting the right amount of sleep or nutrients for their body or it could be any number of things that cause this ti happen.

short line in the sand is that only a treatment provider ie your medical doctor, your therapist your psychiatrist or any combo of these in your location will be able to diagnose what this problem is with in you, what caused it and how to treat it.

here on psych central all we do is read each others posts, let each other know if we have had the same problems, (yes and my problem with this happening turned out to be lack of sleep, stress, not eating correctly and medication problems, and one time because I had had a bit too much to drink at a party.)

we can also tell you what we did about it... my medical doctor ran tests and then came up with a dietary plan that meets my body's needs, and I no longer get drunk at parties, my doctors also keep a close eye on my medications.

other than that we can give each other virtual hugs, thanks to let each other know we have read their posts/replies.

what we dont do is tell eachother what the problems they are asking about are, in other wards we dont diagnose and treat each other.

if you google your symptoms you will see there are literally millions upon millions of things this could be ...in general... but for what it is with in you , you need to contact a treatment provider that can diagnose and treat this problem in you.

tripmonster - That's what a therapist is there for. To be asked questions. To unravel things in your mind. If I have questions I will write them down and ask my T when I see them. It seems easier to do that, plus if I write it down I can make myself clearer.

Please chat with your therapist.
