I just switched from Ambien to Seroquel. I took it last night and ended up calling in sick today due to the drowsiness from it.
I have been trying to communicate with everyone inside, but I can't see or hear them.
I can't even get to a place where they usually are.
It saddens me because I don't know if they are ok or not.
I wish that I could talk to them or see them. I don't like this and I am just hoping it is the feelings from the meds that are making this happen.
Anyone ever had meds affect you in this manner?

(((safe hugs))) Sometimes the medicine does this. Some doctors use it for this reason, though I can't say this was involved in your discussion with your prescriber. It might be that the medicine is affecting them more strongly or differently..and once they all become used to it, you'll have your communication back? Don't fear... you can always decide to change things back later on if you wish. I can't see/hear them

Thanks, Sky. I really appreciate the hugs and support. I am really debating on continuing with the Seroquel. I will try to contact my psychiatrist about it.
I would love to have the communication back. It feels as though my family left me.

Thanks again

Thanks Bronee, I honestly can say that not one of them do I not enjoy having around. They all have their quirks, but they are a part of me and I like learning more about them.
Mind you, I only know of 4 so far.

are you DID or are you schizophrenic. I have DID and when I was recently diagnosed I was told medication doesn't work for DID and would not take away my voices/alters that DID wasn't a chemical imballance of the brain thing. and then when I was reading I found some posts by others here that also say medication doesn't do anything to DID as in taking away voices and alters. it can take away depression and such for the person that is diagnosed with DID but not do anything for or against the alters. Ill ask my therapist when I see her today to be sure though. I see her in about 15 minutes.

I just got back from seeing my counselor. I asked her about this and she said that medication does not interfere in a good or bad way with alters from Dissociative Identity disorder. medication has no effect on alters of DID which is why they don't prescribe medication for DID. They do sometimes prescribe medication to rule OUT DID because if the voices and acting out stops then they know the person has a different disorder ie bipolor, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder and such where hallucinations are a symptom. Sometimes people mistake having hallucinations for having alters especially with so many on line and real time resourses out there that people use to self diagnose and then go to a therapist saying they have DID or other disorders so one of the ways that the agency uses to find out if the person self diagnosing is correct when they say they have DID is to prescribe medication and then follow up on the persons reactions to the medications.

Thanks for the info Crystal88. Last night, after the drowsiness had worn off, I could communicate with them again. I have DID and I am not self-diagnosed. I have been diagnosed by several different psychiatrists and psychologists.
I talked with the psychiatrist today and he told me that the meds were not right for me as they affected me so negatively. He said that it is possible that I was so completely out of it that I couldn't communicate with them. He said it is like taking way too many sleeping pills, for people without DID, and how they get so "drugged up" that they can't even speak. He said that it was possible that I couldn't contact them because of the response my mind had.
When I was able to communicate with them, they were asking what happened and I had to explain to them that it was ok and we were going to be fine. They knew something was wrong, but didn't know what happened.
IDK, all I know is that I can see and hear them again and I am really glad about that.
Thank you though, for everything. It's nice to know that there are other opinions and observations out there to think about.
