I have been feeling really bad lately. I have been feeling way too disconnected to my body and the world around me. I get feelings of blurring into the world around me like I cant feel the difference between where my skin ends and another object begins. And I get feelings of feeling way too close to the world and when I feel like this I also feel like I’m suffocating. I’m afraid that if I have depersonalization disorder that I’ll never get better. It sounds like most people who have this disorder don’t get better and I really want to get better.

Sorry to hear you are having difficulty. Do you do any grounding techniques? I will use ice to help keep me in the world. Maybe you need to ground yourself.

I have DP and it does get better!!!! It has a lot to do with how you think. Be positive and have faith that you will work your way out of it. Yoga helped me a little cus it focuses on being mindful which is like working on your senses what you FEEL especially (physically and emotionally). Keep working on it. Look up mindfulness exercises. Good luck. Love you

I really like all those Zen "live in the moment" techniques. I had a great trauma counselor that was really good with those. Goofy things work for me too like playing catch. Or walking around. My dog helps me a whole bunch. She's not even a therapy dog. She's a rescue dog with special needs so she keeps me busy and grounded at home. We are co-conscious and we all take care of her. One thing my trauma counselor told me which gives me hope is this as best I can remember and paraphrase:we are naturally made to heal. If we get a cut. It heals. Same with our psyche. So everyday, we are healing and getting better. Even if we aren't actively trying to. Then if we are working on our issues, GREAT. We heal better and faster.
