in psych ER to remind me how sucky it is and how I'd rather deal with 'my form of madness' at home than stay in hell. Sheesh. How to dehumanize a person in a day or less: send them to psych ER holding cells. All practitioners who work there should be REQUIRED to spend 48 hours and see what it's like to be treated the way they treat their patients.

"What is that book?" (I look at her funny). "WHAT IS THAT BOOK???" Uhhh... I show her the title and read it to her. "I KNOW WHAT IT SAYS; WHAT'S IT ABOUT???" Oh. She didn't let me keep the book *sudden death by boredom*. She nearly didn't let me keep my stuffies "Choose. The book or the stuffies." I pushed the book at her angrily. I guess she also had to pick and choose her battles, since she wasn't going to win the one on the stuffies. Re-offer me my book. HISS.

(Guy checking in for his shift): "I've been sentenced to hell."
a. the patients can HEAR you. b. you want to know hell??? Try being DID. Or having any form of mental illness. Try being the PATIENT.

(Same guy talking to gal): "Sarah's coming on, too." "Oh she'll be pleased".
(Sarah comes on shift) RANTING AND RAVING Everything's wrong. "THIS ISN'T HOW WE DO THINGS!!!!!! I'M GOING HOME. (Hurrah!) I'm in a BAD MOOD and I'm NOT putting up with this!" Later she announced again that she was going home and I muttered 'good riddance'.

Chaos happening next door caused us to curl up on the floor... "WHAT are you doing on the FLOOR???" (I tried to explain) "GET ON THAT BED RIGHT NOW!!!!"

There wasn't a bed available on the ward STILL so I checked out before my selves really got us into trouble per usual.
sheesh.

Wow and Ow...I'm sorry, but where are you at? (No need to answer because it was a rhetorical question).

I've never experienced "cells" but rooms that are better then jail.

I needed to get up to the ward. Oh well, right? We have people (insiders) to take care of that sort of thing

So, are you up at the ward? I been stuck waiting for a bed a few times... wasn't nearly as bad as what you went through, though. Once it was pretty bad and seemed to take forever... still not that bad, nowhere near.I hope things are better. 💪.
Thanks for this!

No I left. They wanted me up there due to the SI and switching alts but I couldn't take it any longer and they couldn't put a hold on me. I never did see a psychologist in that 24 hour period. Just the social worker.
My psych nurse wanted me up there, too. I might still have to see a dr about one of the SI injuries, but I really hope not. Tho pnurse might put her foot down. I see her Monday.

Is self injuring a way that you ask for help?
Thanks for this!

no - it is a way that one alter shows me she is suffering. So I guess that's the same... but it's to me; not me to others.
Tho sometimes SI is to punish me (or others punishing others for something), or simply to control me. It varies. I am working on a safety program right now and am really proud of 10 - she came up with her own list of 10 things to do before going to ER (since my list of 20 was just things I've been told to do over the years - not things that actually work for us; usually I am not the one injuring).
She did injure in a different form last night - just bruising. Nothing permanent. We are working on increasing her ability to use verbal skills over non-verbal means of getting my attention or her needs met (and also learning what her needs are).

(((Kiya))) why are the ones we depend on so cruel? Maybe it's cause they are in that position of power. It is soul shattering. I'm so sorry that happened.

I was referred to, in admitting in a different psych hospital as a "frequent flier". She said it right in front of me. I told her I wasn't deaf and she told me to mind my own business.

Yes, you would presume correctly. :/ East coast in Calista's case; West coast for me.
