And mad. I have been looking for treatment for 3 years across 3 different states. It seems that there is NOTHING. Obamacare doesnt cover anyone. i have seen many therapists without DD experience but they seem to just make things worse in the long term. To get a more qualified therapist it seems i would need to get a job to afford it, but i cant go into work until i get treatment!!
Now I have alters fighting over who has rights to what in life, alters denying everyone else what they need, alters that retraumatize the system, alters that have relapsed into anorexia to the point that i am getting ill, alters that have daily panic attacks and insomnia... And what can i get? Bandaid treatment. My life is a wreck. I hate the mental health system. But i cant just call it quits, i have to be seeing someone, even if they are unqualufied, even if they make things worse. Or the state will decide im not in therapy because i got better and cut off my social security. The world doesnt care. .Phoenix and Josh |

how about starting out small. instead of seeking out someone who is DID qualified work with someone like taking a yoga class. this will teach things like breathing, mindfulness and a bit of physical activity that may calm your internal world down a bit so you can think of what to do next.
then instead of trying to work on all the problems at once maybe visit a crisis center that deals with all kinds of issues. by doing this you can work on things like anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self injury coping tools. this will give you a starting foundation and many crisis centers dont need insurance. some are sliding fee and donations and no fees. while working on the foundations with a crisis center therapist, that therapist can be helping you to navigate the mental health system to get you a full time treatment provider that is right for your problems/issues. dont forget to let them know you have dissociative problems so that they can help you with the basics on that and help you to get the right treatment providers. when looking for a treatment provider with the crisis center therapist dont forget to tell them what kind of therapist you want (a strictly by the book one, a semi flexible one or one that is like chatting with a friend but get work done too kind of treatment provider) some clients work better with flexibility and others do not. |

very sorry. i am in canada, and there is nothing for trauma. i get a psychiatrist and meds for free, but to see an actual therapist costs between $60 and $100+ a session which is not doable. there is also no trauma specific program of any type except for ONE eight week ptsd program for the entire country. it is difficult to find appropriate help.

It was frustrating looking for so long but I was glad I kept at it. I would say don't give up. Keep looking. Eventually you'll find somebody helpful. |

just a heads up Obamacare isnt insurance its a new law here in the USA, the actual name of the law is the Patient Protection and affordable care act.
this new ...law....says all Americans must have basic health insurance either by signing up with a private insurance (blue cross blue shield and other private insurance providers ) program or state insurance (medicaid\medicare)program. the law also states what insurance providers must do. basically spells out the rights and responsibilities of patients and of insurance companies. this is not insurance that covers medical bills and mental health bills. it doesnt cover any medical or mental health treatment like therapy or meds. its just the law now here in the USA that every american must obtain basic health insurance. (think of this like the ....law... that says you have to not drink or drive, and like the new.... law ....that says that its now legal in all 50 states for LGBT to marry..) there are many options for following this law just like an adult has many option on how to follow the law of dont drink and drive. a person obtains insurance by signing up with an insurance provider at the website named after the law obamacare.gov. on this website are many different insurance companies that are profiling their insurance plans.. (think of it like going to the mall where you have many different stores in one place) these insurance companies are not called obamacare. they are blue cross blue shield, medicaid, medicare, cobra and other state and private insurance companies. its like going shopping for what you want. you find the plan that best fits you, then you enroll in your chosen plan. again these insurance companies are not called obama care. they are the same things you can get by looking in your phone book under social services, and insurance. the only difference is that the president had a website built where all the insurance plans are in one place like going shopping in a mall. you can sign up online on the nationwide website or you can visit the ones nearest you at these insurance companies own buildings\agencies. if you dont like the plan you have just talk with your insurance representative or your social services worker and they can help you get the most out of your existing plans or make changes to your insurance plans depending upon whats available in your locations. |

Amandalouise i have asked you before to stop responding to my threads in this way. How do you think I even got my insurance?? Do you think I didnt sign up for it?? Why do you come into my threads and try to explain to me how this and this and that works when I didnt even ask? On top of that i asked you weeks ago to stop. It isnt helpful to me. In fact I dont see how its particularly helpful to anyone here. You go into every thread doing this. I am going to have to block you. I dont care if posting this gets me in trouble : these posts make an otherwise helpful subforum beyond frustrating. Im sure there are others here that feel the same way and arent saying anything because theyre super nice. Well screw being super nice. I can find another forum where there isn't a condescending woman in every thread telling everyone how the USA and DSM-5 works, "Actually".

Ive contacted a few more people. They werent listed as taking my insurance but I gave it a shot anyways. 3/4 contacted me to say no, they dont take my insurance. However, a counselor trained in emdr and a part of isstd enthusiastically (?? Wrong word) called me back and would like to speak with me. We'll see how that goes. |
