I'm curious if any of those of you with DDNOS or co-conscious DID notice a pattern of falling asleep OK, but then waking up in the early hours of the morning and then having a part show up and start talking?

This has been happening to me from time to time. Usually it happens when I have been triggered about something from my past, or when my t and I have been discussing something painful in session.

It always happens after I wake up in the middle of the night. When this part shows up, I try to encourage it to speak its mind. Often, it talks on and on, sometimes for as much as 1-2 hours. I'm not sure if it is talking to me or not. It feels more like it is talking to my t. It is not asking questions or wanting feedback. It just says how it thinks and feels.

As I hear what it says, I think "This is important. I need to remember this. We should probably discuss this in therapy." But when I wake up in the morning, I remember very little about it.

are you partly dreaming? I wonder if this is a symptom of DID or is it a dream like state which is normal.

I guess if you are going through therapy, you will be processing a lot of stuff, your subconscious mind will be, and when you're sleeping or sleepy, your subconscious will quick in and try help you to sort out your problems whilst sleeping using metaphors and visions, and voices, to help you make sense of stuff. I see this as healthy and normal, not a symptom of DID.

And even if your conscious mind cannot remember any of it, your subconscious mind will, and if it needs your conscious mind to remember, it will happen, so don't worry about it, and let your mind wander off like this, it'll help the process of getting therapy, I'm sure of it.

It's seldom that I wake up early from others gabbing because this body sleeps hard, we usually awake because of meds are out of whack or coming off of drugs and alcohol. But when we do, yes....let the conscience gabbing begin. First off, it's not really a dream state, more like a relaxed awake state because I keep opening the eyes checking the clock, keeping tabs on how long this is taking.

It's a lot of cross talking amongst others of which I try to ignore because the last thing that I want is a conversation at 3 a.m.. I don't keep tabs on the convo because it's work, and if I work at it, I'll get up. But I'll catch words and phrases among the din about how to better perform, problem solving, gossip, rehearsing, or self speculation...much like in a school cafeteria at lunch.

I figure if they got something to say to somebody, they can do it on their own. As for me, "y'all shut up so I can go back to sleep!"

This sounds familiar. Can you shift gears and write down the main points after it happens?

interesting about "the part seems to be talking to T" very often I have thoughts that ...well it all most makes me feel as though i either have a T in my head, or that parts rehearse what they want to say or talk about as if talking to T. Sometimes even full on feelings come forward that is more of a fear she is leaving and will play out a whole scenario even though in reality it hasnt happened and there is no indication that she is leaving or going to hurt us.

I do get the sleep thing. When I lay down to bed, I will have eyes closed and slowly noise comes and sometimes I hear knocks on doors, or someone in conversation but cant make it out. When I woke up yesterday, it was weird, I had opened my eyes looked around and at my clock. then laid there and closed eyes and started to hear a baby ... one that is trying to say words..babble talking ...just as i started to ask can you see me ? She disappeared no sound, I asked if you could see me even though I could not see her but i wanted to see what would happen and gone no more sound.

I have a protector that comes out at night. He likes to write. Sometimes I'm aware of this & sometimes I'm very surprised in the morning so I check everyday to see if he's been around. He's nasty, ugly & a bully & I think that's why it's at nite. I'm too tired to deal & just let it go.
His magical time is 3am ugh.
Thank you for posting I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one up in the middle of the nite sometimes
