I think it's just a matter of forgetfulness and not necessarily a sign or symptom of dissociation. Many, many people have problems taking their medcation on time,or remembering if they took it,including my husband.I'm usually pretty good at remembering to,but probably because I don't take any very often, and when I do it's usually something I need because I'm sick and know that i have to.
My husband though, has such a hard time remembering, even though he takes the same ones every day. He's always asking me "did I take my blood pressure medicine?"And once, recently,he was feeling weird for about a week, was acting a little weird too and finally realized he was taking an antidepressant instead of his blood pressure medication. He doesn't have a dissociative disorder or anything,he's just unorganized and forgetful.Lol. Maybe you could set an alarm on your phone so you will be reminded?Or download an app to help you?Maybe make sure you stick to a strict routine with it?Maybe even put up post it notes or even write it on your hand?Or do something specific,or eat or drink something specific each time you have to take it so your brain will associate it with taking your meds.Like if you drink a Pepsi each time you take your med,or even eat m&m's,after awhile taking your med along with it will become automatic.Like I have to take daily vitamins according to my doctor,I just automatically do now when I eat breakfast. It's so automatic that alot of times I don't even remember if I did or not until I check the bottle. |

That probably didn't help.I think you're just having trouble remembering if you did take it and not trouble remembering to take it?
Either way, reminders, notes, etc would help, being more mindful when you do take it. Last edited by Anonymous37908; Mar 11, 2017 at 09:34 AM. |

i keep the pill thingy on my desk right in front of me so its like the first thing i see in the morning
but yeah, i usually do take the meds on time and everything but just have a hard time remembering taking it.. its a weird feeling because i know i did it its not just the meds though... its like that with everything... i guess i am unorganized too, i try to be organized but its difficult when you feel crappy all the time

Well living in the chaotic, drama filled, constantly triggering environment that you are,I am actually surprised you are doing as well as what you are.

Our problem is if an Other takes the meds....there is a blank spot in our memory about it. So when I go our daily pill box....and it's empty...then I take it on faith that we took it.

weekly every-day pill containers help. the ones you can get at walmart. that way you know if they are taken that day or not.
