Some of my parts, Sire in particular, like to take selfies. Sire probably has the least attachment to our real face out of any of us, so he kind of uses the pictures as an attempt to see himself in this face and get used to it. (Haha! He says it doesn't help as much as he'd like it to.) He has encouraged some of the others to take selfies, and it is quite striking how different some of them appear. The face recognition software on my phone consistently fails to recognize Sire as me, and a couple others too. Anyone have similar experiences?

I am only just getting to know mine but I think I can recognize a couple in old photos. One tough teen seems to appear quite often.
I find snapchat interesting. There is a filter on today that some younger part likes. Sometimes I find an "inner urge" to one or another of the filters. Some parts seem to see themselves in some of them.

yes, most of them. they have very distinct looks, expressions, ways of carrying themselves. there are just a few that do their best to blend in and match.

I can definitely look at a picture and see that I look "gone" but I don't think I can tell who has stepped in. I've recently found some pictures that I have no memory of, and the look on my face is that "blank" look.

no, but i can deduce it from the situation who it is. if it's a selfie it's probably either a little trying to show off something they're wearing or the one extroverted part of us. if it's a group picture once again it's probably the extroverted part. i haven't had a picture of me personally since 2012 unless it was by accident.

Sadly I didn't bring any photos of myself when I ran away. It took me many years before I felt comfortable with other people taking pics of me, as some abusers used to take non-consensual / nasty pics of me as a little kid. I think some of my alters (esp Larry) get surprised when they see Outside Jacq pics - with a very woman-looking body that doesn't match up to his view of things.

This is a very interesting idea! I remember all the photos that I have of me. My dissociative disorder exhibits very differently than severe MPD/DID people. My alters do not have different names or at least I do not think that they do. I do not switch a lot. I do not switch in the day time or at least very rarely. I switch at night and I have to be emotionally attached to someone to switch because I was continually abused by my two year older brother and my mother during my toddler years. I have never found strange clothes in my closet. I very rarely remember lost time.

My dissociative disorder exhibits more like little blips of amnesia or memory loss rather than extreme differences in the personalities. Unfortunately for me this makes it extremely hard to get a diagnosis. Some of my ex.s could have proven that I was dissociative if they had been willing to discuss the communication that went on in the relationship. I have no intimate family or friends now so I cannot get help.

only in some childhood photos since they were more likely to be able to have more control than they do now. but we also do not like pictures in general, so there aren't a lot throughout adult years.

Okay, perfect opportunity to share this:

I work in management in one of the most heavily regulated industries in the country. My little, Sonseearae, shows up regularly and everyone, particularly those who work for me in my department know her and everyone loves her. Last week, HR took it upon themselves to snap a picture of her and surprised her with a gift. She now has her own security badge with her picture on it along with her birthday (though the year is missing because she isn't old enough to work here). So we walk around with two security badges now and if you had hid the personal information and just looked at the pictures - yeah, you'd absolutely be able to tell who is who.

We have no selfies or pictures because pictures and mirrors are creepy. It's always a stranger....a disconnect over familiarity...

There are no or maybe barely any memory of where the images were recorded....even voice recordings are weirdly horrendous.

So...for us me and everyone else...no
Thanks for this!

There have been a few pictures show up over the years where it is clear (to me at least) that it was a specific someone or other in my system. This happens infrequently as we mostly dislike having pictures taken and avoid cameras like the plague.

The image is somewhat recognizable, but waves of anxiety from unfamiliarity and dread ensues....because of no memory of it taking place tells me that it wasn't me in the picture.

We are many and have tried to act as a singleton....invisible, unnoticeable, and withdrawn from the human eye.

I don't like pictures. It never looks like me.

I like my wedding photos though. Only ones I've ever liked.
