Weird thing happened at work, I'm okay, but some of us were frightened.
I work teaching individual kids in their homes.
Possible trigger:
So this evening I'm going back to work, and I haven't been entirely successful at assuring my little ones that everyone will be safe. My supervisor is showing up though, to talk to the mom. Ugh. I'm not sure what kind of response I'm looking for. I guess anything.

Next time I'm going to call the police on his ***, whether the mom likes it or not.

I'm surprised we didn't switch. Wondering how likely that might happen in the future, though.

I am so sorry that you were put in that situation. I think that would scare anyone. I know that you may not feel okay, but I think you handled it fine and your plans going forward are healthy.

Oh my gosh!! you should never have been placed in that situation!! Have you talked with your supervisor about the situation? They should have a duty to protect you in your work environment. Can you talk with the mother and tell her you are not comfortable with that situation and if it happens again you will not hesitate to call the police?
You handled that very frightening situation really well. it sokay to support your scared parts through it. |

Update:
My supervisor attended the next session and had a meeting with the mom. If I don't want to work with that family anymore my supervisor will work with me, (but I feel like I don't want to abandon my client, so I'm going to continue working at that home), and it's understood that I'll call the police if it happens again. I had a T appointment and we talked about it a great deal. I/we feel better about the situation. There are so many things we can do now that we couldn't do years ago. The last session at that house went very well, no weirdness (and that little kid was so happy to see me) so that helps too. After I got home on the night of all that craziness, though, I actually lost time. That is very rare for us, especially these days. I still can't remember going to bed.

Yes, that crazy incident would throw me off, too. Being in the situation....I would feel endangered and would of called the police, too. It sounds like you handled it very well....
We had an incident at work where a fired co-worker was yelling threatening us....and we dissociated and everyone wanted to do something different- so we are still trying to figure things out. Humans confuse us. I'm glad that it worked out for your better. ![]() |
