Check this out...if I stay pissed off...I stay pissed off without interuption. No one taking over. Grit my teeth and scowl.
Its easier to fight the others off. It lasts awhile, but it ends. I might maje it a day...or hour. No telling really. Is that a grounding thing, staying centerd and focus? All the Others fight for grounding...its freaking nuts in here. Sucks knowing that you are not alone. Its a battle to be. Welcome to our world. |

Never thought about it like that before, anger as a grounding technique, but my grounding stuff is external focused... well, that and emotions kinda make me space out more than a lil bit anyhow so it would be totally counterproductive for me to try. Numb/nothing is my default, you know? But the ones in my system who do anger... yeah, so long as their grr levels are high, they tend to fly solo, so lil internal crowding or someone else showing up until the grr runs itself out. I always dismissed it as them doing their things and us giving them room. Could be an interesting thing to try out sometime... see if one of the angry ones can cling to it and plow through life a bit longer than usual. Huh. Now I'm wondering if Gwen is paying mind to this and would be willing to give it a go.

I know it sucks, but what else works? I get an edge that stays central. But the energy required fizzles.

I use anger all the time as a grounding technique during sessions. I tend to turn into this timid rabbit the minute I walk into therapy. It leaves me vulnerable and allows the others to fight to come out. I have had good success with trying to stay angry through a session and it allows me to stay grounded and present.

My bad alternate uses caffeine for this or if we are already loaded up with it, it sustains him. It's his energy. Too much of it will bring him out in a bad way so, we have to be careful with the intake. However, I do need coffee in the mornings to help me stay awake because of sleep apnea.
