So, I have this problem with my hands. It's not all of the time but it happens frequently enough for it to be a problem.
I keep my hands away from my face as much as possible, even then they scare me, so I try to ignore their presence. I'm terrified of my hands when I'm like this because they aren't my hands. If I allow them to come close to my face,
Possible trigger:
My therapist believes I have DID. So, I'm just curious if this is common for people who have DID or if I'm just entirely off my rocker at this point.

one of my relatives had it happen they are diagnosed with alzheimers. their doctor called this symptom in them ...Alien Hand Syndrome. short version it means because of physical health problems a person feels like their hands are not their own and out to harm them, do things out of their control. to find out what what in you and how to control it in you, you will need to talk with your treatment providers.... here is a link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_hand_syndrome |

I have had a few moments where a part of my body has been dissociated from my conscious control and other parts of me had control instead. Not often but it has happened. Can you ask internally if part of you knows something about it? Sometimes that helps me.

Had someone just seen a movie, is this a memory/preference surface? Is the other hands just wanting to share it watches movies of this nature?

Well, I confided to my T about this. While DID is still a little uncertain, apparently he also believes I have schizophrenia. He's a little more uncertain about DID, now.
Thanks for responding everyone. I appreciate it.

I have discovered its not the end of the world to discover what I and past treatment providers thought was one mental disorder is now here in present times and present diagnosis standards something else, ....some... of what I and my past treatment providers thought was dissociative problems are now diagnosed as being things like bipolar disorder, psychosis, medication side effects. the good part of having diagnosis changes in me, is that what used to not be treated with medications now are treated with medications. Now those problems that used to be left untreated in me are getting treated. why were they left untreated years ago.... because by past standards and mental health beliefs, they fell into dissociation and the going thing back then with treatment providers was meds dont work with dissociative problems. But with todays diagnostics and standards that have moved those problems from being dissociation to being called other things, it opened the door for meds, which got the problems under control.... my point now that your doctor feels this problem with feeling like your hands are acting on their own and feel like your hands are evil is schizophrenia not DID symptom, they can now get you treated for it. I am glad you talked with your treatment provider. |

It may also be connected with OCD and stress or a phobia. Hard to say. I'm just speculating. Your therapist (or doctor if you have one) should definitely be taking this seriously. |
