**** This could be triggering if talking about switching triggers you ****

It seems that I've developed a hair trigger with this sort of thing, so that is why I put the trigger warning.

I'm curious if anyone experiences physical or somatic (Well, I guess physical would be somatic or maybe not, I don't know. This is all really confusing me right now.) feelings when or before another part comes "forward" or wants to be known/heard?

I've had some experiences that have included this, I think.

I think that is what is happening but validation would surely help me sort this out.

With me, it's co-consciousness with another part coming all the way up front. I'm there, in passenger mode.

The feeling that I am experiencing is a vibrating kind of feeling coming from the inside of me.

Vibrating doesn't really sound right, but I can't come up with a word to really describe it. It's a "deep" feeling and it seems to come mostly from my sternum, chest area. It's like a feeling of "energy" - maybe? It's like the physical feeling of a hum from inside my body.

Geez!! I know this sounds woo woo, but I just can't find the words.

I have experienced it a few times during my session and when it happens my mind usually goes totally blank. I can't put two thoughts together. It's very frustrating!

I've kind of just accepted it as being just what it is and not really understanding what it's purpose is.

Something happened this past week that has me wanting to understand it more.

Ya know, a part of me kind of is accepting what is being pieced together, but validation from someone else would help me lean into it.

Thank you for hearing me!

no it doesnt sound strange at all.

i cant say I have felt other alters as i was switching. for me dissociation was a sense of no emotions / numbness/ spacing out. that said sometimes i would know when i was switching by paying attention to me... you know grounding stuff.... like if I know a storm was coming I would pay extra attention to my physical body, triggers and how I was feeling mentally. if I felt a certain way I knew it was getting close to when i would switch into rainy. again this wasnt something that I was feeling from Rainy. it was just knowing what my triggers are, knowing my body well enough to know when I (not rainy) felt different. Rainy was one of the alters that I had more co consciousness with then the others. so if i was going to experience what any of my alters were going through in physical / somatic ways it would have been with her.

i think the reason why I did not connect that way with my alters was because the moment I encountered a problem I would become numb/ emotionless/ not feeling any physical sensations of my own and because it was one physical body my mind was already numbing/ disconnected from the body before Rainy took control.

that said I have heard of others around me who have DID who have a slower dissociation rate where they can share the physical sensations that their alters are going through when the alters are in control of the body. which is why I said no it doesnt seem strange to me what you posted.
Thanks for this!

Oh yaaa. It depends on the alter, sometimes I can tell who’s taking over. For instance, the Angry One starts as a fiery stirring in the pit of my stomach that grows until he explodes out like a volcano up through the mouth. It happens so fast that all I can do is watch what’s happening. Pretty weird to have no control of the voice, mouth, the fiery anger...it’s horrific and I can’t stop it till he’s done and fades away. It leaves you feeling like wtf just happened. Very horrific and have to do damage control. Nobody gets it.

When Bobbie (our female sexual alter) takes over, it’s like I did a big line of cocaine and she eases in all sensual feeling...then she becomes.

I also get eye flickers, body shake and jerks, spasms, some start wiggling fingers and toes and then arms and legs like putting on a body. Sometimes I can see body positions shift, manners or gestures. Sometimes walking, I stumble as an Other takes over...sometimes we switch several times crossing the parking lot hoping that no one is watching. Lol. Every now and then I hear a very loud tick in head. Sometimes it’s hard hitting like slamming into a wall dazing us...or quick and seamless.

It could be as little as an eye twinkle.

So I would say that this is very normal as other parts of the brain takes over. I hate it, but that is what I is. It’s embarrassing at times because how do I explain it to strangers who just know that their is something weirdly wrong with me? I can't and don’t know how.
Thanks for this!

I want also to add that sometimes I can feel pressure in my chest, throat, heart, head, or whole body.

Sometimes it hurts, uncomfortable, or very strong emotions like just crying for no reason.
Thanks for this!
