I can not handle the stress of the world. We have one to zero friends on Facebook....and just deleted all our political mind scrambling newsfeed....hate and vile is today’s norm-

Now all I have are mental health groups even though they kind of went like anti DSM...

I voted....but I (even though I want to ) be politically active....but I just can’t.

simplify, less stress, less triggers....

Shut out the world....grow smaller to survive.

Exactly, I did the same. I used to have political and serious sites in my feed. Deleted all. Now I follow sites with science memes, pets, black humour and shallow tabloids. Much better.
I thought I'm mature and "adult" so I subscribed to all the serious sites when I joined fb. However it was killing me, only increased anxiety and depression that I have anyway. So now I'm exactly the same as all the millenials, watching memes and videos of cats.
I couldn't save anyone or improve anything in the world by reading depressing articles and political arguments anyway. Watching funny memes does have a positive impact on my life. Maybe I'm not that special and more enlightened than others as I used to think in the past.

last time I had an account on a social media platform, my account on this forum didn't even exist

been a long while.. kind of miss some of the mental health groups, but the bigger majority of it was stress

I feel the same. I've deleted my facebook so many times, at every bipolar cycle it seems, that I've lost count, and last time I tried to recreate my facebook account, last year, facebook says go take a hike. No more facebook. I have a twitter account, but some of the people there are stressful. Instagram account is okay, but I never post any images anymore. I love Tumbler, a lot, probably because I think & feel closest to younger generations, but my last post was last year ago when I was on verge of suicide. My last post says I'm feeling very suicidal.

Everyone, and I repeat EVERYONE has disappointed me at some point. Only hope is that maybe in future ASI (artificial super intelligence) will teach humanity. I can't stand listening to politics because it's like people say the dumbest things. I call it emotional intelligence. No offense to anyone but I always feel like I'm living on planet of the apes. Too depressing. I'm just too different and don't care anymore to know why.

Just unsubscribed in my email accounts also.

I don’t use Twitter or anything else. Even this PC is my only out world connection.

You cannot imagine how bad I feel for you... oh man, right in the feelings....

This is coming from another "survivor" of abuse. I wasn't abused to the point of DID, but I feel very sad for you... hope everything goes well for you.

I am still on PsychCentral because I could dissociate myself out of the environment I am forced to live in. I know most people think I am useless/piece-of-crap but at least I can escape from people around me.

Email is just for bill notices. Like our family sticks together. It’s just me, my dog, and my soon to finally move out son.

Going through s.m. Withdrawals, lol

Just a little anxiety over breaking a habit- nothing like the one from the barrage of turmoil from looking at the garbage though- a win.

Habits are hard to break.I thinks that's what SM is for me,just a bad habit.I gain nothing from being on it,all it does is make me stressed or upset. There's plenty enough in every day life to be stressed and upset about already,I don't know why I purposely add to it with SM.

May I clarify...I guess it should have read: social NEWS media...

On FB feed is a few bipolar and DID groups, self-help groups, comic classes like Calvin and Hobbs or Far Side, educational pages...

Pretty tame stuff.

I would love to report that this is going very, very well. Our days are better and the obsession has been plugged. The only irritation that gets triggered is when I see something political news ugly, Angry One growls at it and shuts it off.

Our system is much more relaxed and not reflecting the chaos found in the media.
