For a while I kinda denied having any amnesia associated with DID but then I realized I wasn't entirely sure what that meant. I know what I experience and remember, but I don't know if that's typically what is meant by dissociative amnesia, if anyone else gets it, or I just have a really bad memory.
So I guess I'll describe what I experience and see if anyone can make sense of it.
I'm pretty sure I'm aware of what's going regardless of who's fronting, I'm gonna guess and say it's the same for all of us. Ask someone else themselves, I'm clueless. And generally when we switch to me I just go about doing whatever I was doing before, or finish what someone else was doing, or move on to what I need to do next. So I don't really think much of it at that point. We usually all know who is out and when and sometimes how long they're out. Yet not too long after I stop and think. Then it's a whole lot of wait...when did I do that? Did I do that? When did that happen? What happened to the last couple hours?
I don't really loose days at a time it's usually just somewhere between a few minutes and a few hours. So I guess it, what ever it is, isn't too bad. But you know it's rather confusing wondering why I took something off. Did I just do it absentmindedly or did someone else do it without my knowledge. I happen to know Beyond will take off socks,( he has something against socks) But I kinda of know that's him.

We have amnesia because of DID. Is it the same as DA? Idk.

I imagine one could have DA as a singleton....just like a memory block.

This seems possible enough.

I tend to go into a Dissociative trance where I’m present but not in control, but lost in thought with the Other’s thoughts flooding mine like a river rapid to only come too hours later to be somewhere else at a different time.

Of course in these many moments time has passed unawares. Sure it’s a distraction...but on a whole different level compared to what singletons describe.

Amnesia is our normal. Tomorro, all this will look strangely new to an Other because I see it all the time, we all do. Since it’s all on the same account...we know it was one of us.

Really not sure what exactly you are asking....

All I can say is that we are constantly accused of having a one track mind...in and out. ,

Well for me (can't really speak for everyone so I'll just be talking about my apart from the rest of the system) I don't believe having such a horrible memory was as much a problem before DID, so logically the memory loss would be a direct result of that. It's not the same as most people's memory loss. It's not forgetting to do something, or occasionally forgetting where I sat a pencil or something. It's a pretty frustrating thing sometimes. It's not forgetting to do something it's forgetting I did something.
The thing is that I don't suddenly become aware of myself and find myself in a different place then I last recall. I feel like I'm always aware of what's going on and then later after I front again I realize I don't actually remember some random chunk of time. So it kind of feels like I remember right after I front again, then forget what happened later. Kinda hard to say when I don't have any memory to go off of.
I guess what I'm asking is if it's like this for anyone else.

Yes....all the time. Being co-conscience, the lights are always on...but someone different is always home.

I get what you say every day.

if you google the words you will find dissociative Amnesia is a kind of amnesia but not like the kind you get by getting hit in the head with a ball, in sports. its when you cant remember important stuff because of being triggered so bad that you dissociate.

example. one of my children just had surgery, she is fine this was a planned surgery to correct some of her physical health problems.

my point this was a very stressful event, which caused me to feel my dissociation symptoms of feeling numb and spaced out. because I was numb and spaced out (dissociated) I do not remember some very important parts of what went on during the few days before, during and after the surgery. these important memories are not gone they are just dissociated. stored somewhere else in my brain and at some point in the future these memories will come to me again. At some point when our lives return back to normal the important details will be there again.

a person does not have to have DID to have the disorder of dissociative Amnesia. this problem can stand alone or with any number of other mental disorders too.

We too have lots of amnesia and don't really know how much we have until circumstances bring it to light. Like you we don't often have massive chunks of time missing, and we don't even often experience suddenly being somewhere different, although that happens from time to time. Most of the time I think I'm going through life fairly normally (my version of, anyway) and then things happen that make me aware that I wasn't aware... I find things done that I haven't done (but meant to), people talk to me about things I don't remember (but should), or time just.... goes.
I just don't seem to be aware of when or where or why this happens.
