DID and PSTD go hand in hand, don't they? It is hard to know where to post about stuff. I mean, triggers start with ptsd, yes? then it is how we handle them - either the host or another part comes in to handle the stressor? Like i just put a post in PTSD, but it may not be the right place because i bring up switching. I dunno - it gets confusing. Especially when different parts bring different dx's to the "table" like depresson, anxiety....
my roommate was asking me (in regards to what I posted in PTSD) if anyone saw what the woman said to me and wanted to know what my co-workers said. but i couldn't answer her. I know others saw what happened, but i wasn't "there" to hear if anyone said anything... i'm sure what ever part was there heard... but i have no knowledge of it. me

They sure do go hand in hand. I think either forum is fine to post about it probably. Maybe determine which affected you more, the PTSD or the DID. If you are more affected by the fact that there was a trigger and the PTSD it caused, I would say then post in the PTSD forum. If your concern is not so much that but more about the struggles with switching and missing time or things that happened because of it, maybe here. That's just my opinion though. I struggle to post overall so someone else might have better advice in that area. Personally, I think it'd be fine either way.
It's hard when I am checked out and then get asked questions about something. I do a lot of tap dancing sometimes. I think people often think I am an idiot sometimes though because my answer in no way answers their question lol ![]() ![]() ![]() Take good care. ![]() ![]() ![]()

I think more people who have DID have PTSD than the other way around. So, I'd post about my DID PTSD experiences in the DID forum to have it "best" understood. Although everyone dissociates, not everyone has the same degree of dissociation as each other or the same degree that those who experience DID have but everyone with a trauma severe enough to cause post traumatic stress disorder knows how PTSD "works".

hi kiya,
as i've returned to this site after many months away i was wondering the same thing. I have chronic dissociative symptoms that have been with me since childhood (i guess) but I know the PTSD must be there because of using such severe defense mechanisms like dissociating...but who else is going to understand the dissoc symptoms except the people in the dissoc forums!? probably by default, the best place is the dissoc area?? |

yeah - i think you're right.
![]() sometimes i don't even understand that i switched - until ppl in ptsd either don't answer or totally don't see where i'm coming from... by then it's like 'ooops'. ![]()
