I really don't know much about DID... or alters... sorry if this is a silly question.

My alters often write or draw to me, but whenever they do they refer to me by my old name, which is a name I hate and I often find it triggering... is there anyway to stop them from using my old name? Thanks.

Can you not respond when they use that name since it's not yours anymore?

can you communicate with them ? tell them you have changed the name ? worth a try, but we have found that the alters pick a name btn them for other alters (including the host), despite their protests.

they are calling our host person "Alice in Wonderland" atm & she is furious, but she can't change it

yeah, i was going to ask them to stop - but sometimes mine still call me by my old name, too, which i hate.

You've said that they communicate with you through writing and drawing. Have you written and drawn back, thus returning the communications, with the fact that your old name shouldn't be used?

It's very hard to get all parts on the same page with huge change (because many are stuck in time), but it might help with some and you can go from there to work on the rest?

yeah it is a start that some have started calling you by your real name but with the others, i think time will tell. i agree that you should prehaps not reply to them unless they call you by 'vince'. i could try and ask some of them to call you vince if i ever speak to them?

we think any refusal of communication between alters is probably not good

do "labels/names" really mean that much ?

I know it may be a little silly to get all hung up over a name but I really hate being called by my old name, but the littles won't listen. The other day one of them drew all over a painting I had done, could they be mad that I'm trying to get them to change what they call me?
