I understand. You are not alone in those concerns.

I made a conscious decision not to accept any friends because I wanted to avoid any hurt/rejection feelings that people might have. It's nothing personal against anyone, I just felt better doing that.

I'm glad it's not just me. I'm hoping they just added it to encourage people to befriend someone, but it reminds me of junior high when I wasn't one of the "popular" or "cool" kids. I haven't found out how the rejection part works yet, but on a dating site I was on, someone would send a "No, thank you" if they were not interested.

I have no reason to reject anyone unless they are over the top in being offensive, judgemental, or just plain mean to me like laughing at my username or something.

Maybe they added it since in real "face to face" meetings of people, they accept or reject you.
