((((((((((EARTHMAMA)))))))))

Do you have any clay or play doh that you could use to squish and pound? How about any colors, paints or crayons you could use to let the part express something from inside.

This alt may need the chance to express something she doesn't even know HOW to express. There are other ways of being physical to let off pressure - rapid walk, scrub something, pound a pillow or whack it with a plastic bat. I always feel super-silly when I try to do such things but if I give myself permission to just be whatever I am, I seem to get some relief pretty fast.

Whatever you do next, PLEASE take good care of yourself. You matter to me and other people here!!!!!!

we started painting a word of the day. each day we choose a new word, and paint out (just kid paints, brushes, and scrap paper) what ever comes to mind. Often, each alter participates. and if someone didn't, i ask that alter if they wanted to show a picture, too. we've processed 3 words so far - some interesting results - and it gets both the negative and positive out. the first one was hard to do - but now, each day, i am asked if we will do the word of the day today.

Kiya,

I really like your word of the day project. It sounds like a great way to get some communication going and like you said, both positives and negatives. Wow, I'd like to be able to do that with my team someday. We don't allow ourselves enough art yet.

Good job!

well.... trigger words... things i know will bring up a mix of things.
s*x, mom, body... those are the three i have done. there have been about 6-7 pictures each. just lil 3x4 note pad papers. have to choose a safe time, or be willing to be scattered. i could have really used a grounding time today on that 3rd word. @_@. was looking for a support group to go to, wasn't safe... ended up going to the book store. oh well.
be safe all.

What a creative way to work through things. You are very brave to even explore these words as I am sure they are bringing up many strong emotions. Exploring these things without having to put words on them yet communicating is awesome.

Is the bookstore a safe place for you? I know for me sometimes being around people, even those that are compassionate, can be overwhelming and a safe quiet place is a haven. I hope that was the case for you.

i thought i had replied to this... i could have sworn i did, but ok..

kiya's idea is great!!! sounds very therapeutic, also great that alters are keen on it.

i suggested another way of painting on the SI forum, try finding abstract expressionism (and/or jackson pollock, i like his style and do it myself often) pictures on google or altavista. very interesting, and also very therapeutic.

Katie - I also do abstracts when i have a lot of confused emotions or crazed feelings inside that I can't understand. They provide a lot of insight. glad you posted that.

It has been interesting. and they do bring up a lot. sometimes unsafe... but i gotta get through this somehow, since I still can't talk in T.

Bookstore wasn't the greatest idea, but it got me away from myself. =(
