I have made a decision to take time off from school so I can work on myself and get my life stablized. I have been dissociating more lately and have been having a hard time. Though I am getting closer to the anniversary of my most recent traumatic event. I don't think it helped that I found out he lived so close to me. But I moved, so I got that taken care of. I am though questioning my decision a little. My mom thinks it may be a mistake because she doesn't think I will go back to college. I am going into teaching though and I feel I need to be able to manage my life to be able to teach. I am really just so lost and confused right now about everything in my life. I am not ready for May.

Jennifer...i applaud ur decision to stay home and work on you...but...i think first u should look at how much longer u have till u have ur certificate ta teach...an whether it seems prudent ta stop...there is a great book out thats called I AM MORE THAN ONE by Jane Wegshciger Hyman. It is a book on how women with DID have more than conquered, they have really thrived in the workplace an in life while still workin on themselves...before u throw in the towel regardin school, i would encourage u ta read this book...i think it might help u tons ta make up ur mind as ta whether or not ta work on urself an stop ur schoolin...i hope ur decision will help u find ur place...an i hope that u will find peace an comfort knowin ur decision is a good one for u...only u know what u can handle...

i kinda agree with jewels--
you have options also
if you aren't ready for may, perhaps you can
get an extention on some things.
perhaps you can slow up a bit
just a little more to go.
perhaps talk to your teachers
just go slow.
it would be a shame if you lost what you've done so far.
then you can take all the time you need.
you have a lifetime.
really.
no rush on anything
none at all

(((((( Jennifer ))))))

It's good to see you again and good on you for moving away, I think that is definitely the right move. Taking time off is ok and then you can get back to the teaching when you feel stronger.

I think it's very brave of you to make that decision, and until you are past this stage in your life you will always be questioning if it was the right one. But remember that you know better than anyone what you need and if you think you'll do better for yourself by taking some time off now, why would you do anything different than that?

I am glad that you have decided to take care of YOU. That is the most important. Don't give up on what you want to do though. Make sure to leave doors open so that when you are ready you can return.

*wishing you the best*
