help me please.. please read

hello all i am in need of your vast and exprienced opions.

i am diassocative...
i found a place in florida, i am tennessee, that specailzes in dissacccative... its in house... 3 weeks min very harsh tho not a lock down facility.. no caffeene, no tv, no music, no computers and no outside reading, and no medication.

they want me to detox off all my meds ...

this includes tegratol, navane, xanax and pain medication for my back... i can keep the paxil.

well i dont have a shrink.. i hated my old shrink and quit him awhile ago.. my pdoc has me on these meds... i have tried to get in touch with him for 3 days now with no sucess.

i have thought about going into st marys for medical detox... it will be harsher yet... they are a dual diagnosis facility.. not used to someone not going back onto meds...

i am afraid... very afraid... i am also agoraphobic.. so all this time away from home has me anxious... they wont let me smoke there... and that seems to be my final straw... i cant go there...

so i am on my own to pull of these meds...
or should i
maybe i should find a local tharpist first
i dunno...

this is all so hard...
help please...

I don't know much about in-patient treatment facilities or programs...but it seems a bit weird that they'd request you be off all your meds. I would be concerned about that. How well have you researched this place?

I would speak with your PDoc first before attempting to come off the meds...this can be dangerous.

If you can....try and find a T at some point to help you through.

This place in Florida sounds kind of creepy, but then again...I'm kind of creepy myself right now so maybe I shouldn't be commenting......

Maybe you might want to consider gathering all the information you can on the place in Florida and get an opinion of your t and pdoc. Normally it is good to get as many support people involved in making a decision such as this is. Good luck.

There are other facilities that deal with Trauma and DD. There is one in Kansas City that is a very good facility. I was there about 2 yrs ago. PM me if you want more info. It isn't as harsh as this one in Florida sounds. But it is alot of work.

I tried to post advice hours ago but wasnt sure about what I was saying so I scrapped it. I do agree with white iris and bipolar bear. Get all the info you can. The florida facility isn't going anywhere so you do have time to make informed choices. You have lived with things for a while so a week or two may seem top long, but it would be really great to get all your ducks lined up in a row.

I know people who are being treated for DID while on their current meds so I dont see the need to detox from most of your meds. But thats just my two cents worth.
