I just dont know where to go anymore...for such a long time i took pride in being able to out eat most guys, given my height is 4' 11" and and i used to be a size one. my body frame is just petite by nature but not long after i turned 17 i started to put on a little weight...i'm now 19 and i use to weigh 105 and now am probably close to 150...may not sound bad but with my size 5 pounds is completely noticable on me..i cant stop eating. i constantly eat and eat no matter what mood i'm in...i have come to realize that it is a problem. i though that i just might need to work out more but i know thats just not the case. i have even hidden how much i eat to people sometimes...just so they can say good job and make myself feel better about it...i dont know where to go from here i'm stressed and constantly depressed cause i'm just not used to feeling so horrible about eating. if it is no bother please give any advice. i will appreciate it greatly.
thanks

I'm sorry to hear that you are going through this. I'm probably NOT the best person to answer this but I'll give my 2 cents. Maybe you can distract yourself so when you feel the urge to eat, you can do something else. Also, you should try to identify what is "triggering" you to eat. If you aren't able to identify it yet then you can still try to distract yourself. Some examples would be you feel the extreme and uncontrollable urge to eat so you do the following:

1- go for a 20 minute walk. If you still want to eat after then eat.
2- watch an episode of a tv show. If you still want to eat after then eat.
3- do 25 crunches/10 push ups. If you still want to eat after then eat.
4- read 1 chapter in a book, call a friend and talk for 15 minutes, check your emails, take a shower, shave your legs, do your nails, get in a car and drive somewhere, do multiplication tables, blow dry your hair, do dishes, do laundry, iron your clothes, rearrange your closet, etc.

Just do something that distracts you from eating and see if you can last at least 20 minutes. If after you do something to distract yourself you still feel the extreme urge to eat then eat. But keep in mind you are practicing self control by distracting yourself.

Another thing you can try is drink a glass of water when your hungry and wait about 10 mins. It could be your actually thirsty instead of hungry.

(I watched that on a 60 mins that came on a few weeks ago). Also, only eat when your hungry and not just because your bored. Try eating things that are REAL food (no, pizza, popcorn and macaroni does not equal real food). Try lemon pepper fish with a side of green beans, corn and mash potatoes, and try to start out your meals with soup. (for example). Dont deny your body what it needs and remember - your body isnt here to win beauty contest, its there to carry you around and to help you live life. Healthy doesn't always equal skinny! And yes, its ok to have deserts and such, just keep it minimal. Love yourself and stay positive!
