I'm working on recovering from anorexia. I was in therapy from Dec. 11, 2007-this Aug. I also have OCD, which I'm on medication for. Well, there is a girl I sometimes see at work who is even thinner than I am (I was at a very low weight when ED was really bad); it really triggers me. I think I want to be that thin again when I see her, but I don't want to feel bad again physically & emotionally like I did. I don't like being around her, but sometimes I have to be! The only thing I can think of to do is distract myself & remember how much better I feel, especially physically.

“remember how much better I feel, especially physically”.
Hang on to that thought SWA 1971! If you are going to have to come into contact with this person sometimes (and this may happen whenever you see anyone who is thin) USE it to do just as you have said - remember how much better you are feeling now, emotionally and physically. Turn it into a positive ‘trigger’ that reminds you how far you have come and that you are NOT going back again…and then move on to thinking about and doing something different. Best Wishes for continuing to maintain your recovery, & for a happy and positive 2010! Matt C

I have this same problem and don't know quite how to deal with it myself.

Unfortunately, I do not have a therapist....can't afford one. It's hard to see the benefit in recovery when all you can see is the weight on your body.
