Hey everyone,

Recently I have been getting intrusive thoughts such as "You're fat, you need to eat less!" or "Stop eating!" "Lose The Weight!" It's very hard to deal with, and the intrusive thoughts come out mostly around meal times.

Today I've hardly had anything to eat as a result, because I DO feel fat and overweight and gross despite the fact that my nurses say my weight is normal, maybe even a little less than normal.

Does anybody else struggle with intrusive thoughts telling them what to do, what to eat, and how much? I could really use some advice. Thanks.

That's a tricky question because ED thoughts and OCD thoughts are so similar; in fact, many people will have both disorders simultaneously.

In my own experience, I haven't really had "intrusive" ED thoughts as much as a constant obsession with food and thinness. And when I say "constant" I do mean every waking hour of the day and not only at meal times, although the thoughts become worse at meal times... But my exercise and meal rituals are incredibly OCD-like.

Of course, this is only my experience. Please keep your nurses informed and take care of yourself...

MilkMunch...I've send you a pm, thanks.

whoswho....I have been diagnosed as OCD, as well as BPD and Bipolar Disorder. So you think my intrusive thoughts may just well be my OCD obsessing about caloric intake? Would you have any advice on how to stop obsessing about weight, and eating, and calories? Thank you!

yes
ask me a specific one, in a PM and I'll respond probably pretty quickly, i usually check PMs during my day at school if i get the chance
How are you doing otherwise???

Remember, take time and don't over analyze everything, recovery takes a lot of time, hospital stays are temporary and are building blocks to recovery cycles

I have those same thoughts and I don't know how to make them go away, I am sorry. If you wanna talk you can PM me anytime. I've struggled with ED for a very long time, so I know how bad it can be sometimes.
