So a year has passed since I was inpatient for my eating disorder. All in all, I'm proud of what I accomplished. The last 10 days of the year were bad ... I b/p because I was upset with my husband. I'm learning to use my voice, but sometimes it scares me and I "forget" and go back to my old ways.

I've been abstinent since Jan 1st tho and am sticking to my meal plan.

I'll confess to hoping that any weight I might have gained during the 10 day b/p stint, but will not weigh myself, so I'll never know.

I wish happiness, joy and non-ED thoughts to you all.

It does take a lot to reprogram those neuropathways in our brain that have for so long been programed to act in the ED way to deal with pain or painful issues we need to deal with. I think that's one reason I absolutely love DBT because he has helped me learn to deal with my distress & my emotions using skills that are not harmful to me.

It's wonderful you are doing so well. As you continue to use other ways of dealing with your upset feelings & learn to USE YOUR VOICE, you will find that they are the skills that are the ones reprogramming your neuropathways from the b/p ways you have previously dealt with those stressful situations...it's just the way the mind works & gets programmed.

Just an update -
I have read an amazing book that has tranformed my eating habits, the way I look at food, and more importantly to me, the way I relate to God. Now this book may not be for everyone - it is definitely a Christian oriented book - but if you're interested, it's called Made to Crave by Lysa TerKeurst.

I literally haven't had an ED thought since I've read it!
Thinking fondly of you all
