Hi, I am new to this whole thing. I am 21 years old and i have been dealing with anorexia and bulimia for 4 years now. I started right after my brother died. I have totally stopped hanging out with all my friends. I have always been a straight A student till now. Any ideas on how to get my life back??

Hi chelsea, You didn't mention if you're working with anyone to help you get your life back. This stuff is pretty hard to work on by yourself. I think a support group would be really important at the very least. Have you considered a twelve step group, therapist, etc. You mention isolating, and that this began after your brother's death. It sounds like you might really benefit by being able to talk about all that with someone. Here is a great place to start, but you might find you need someone more dedicated to just you to really feel like you 're getting the help you need.

Hope things get better for you. And welcome to psych central.

welcome to PC. like the others have mentioned, it might be a good idea to call upon a therapist for help with this. I have been struggling with anorexia/bulimia for the past 11 years, so if you want to talk, please dont hesitate to pm, im, or email me. ill gladly listen and try to help out.

welcome to the forum. I find the best way to start in recovery is stepping out of denial, opening up to supportive friends and family about your struggles, and reaching out for therepeutic intervention. Look foreward to meeting you more.
