For all with an ED but in particuliar overweigth bulimeics.
My family dr ignores the fact that I have an ED because I am overweigth - in other words she sees me as "healthy" because I don't appear to be "wasting away" as she puts it.

But I've tried to talk to her about whether, it is impacting my heart or what the lack of nutrients are doing to my body.

She always says "I'll tell you when to worry".

So what do you think about the physicial impact of bulemia on an overweigth person.(personally I have accepted her veiwpoint but I wonder)

Hey there,

In my opinion you need to find another doctor. People die from eating disorders at all sorts of weights. Purging is extremely dangerous. It effects the heart not to mention what it does to your teeth and throat.

I would be interested to hear what others have to say, but I think your doctor is off base by not taking this seriously.

Thanks... I am of the same opinion. My teeth have been really hit hard...My dentist really dislikes working on me because he doesn't understand the ED. Of course, he doesn't mind takinge my money.

like cyan said you need to find yourself a new doctor.

purging can be really dangerous to your heart, stomach, oesophagus, teeth etc.... you have the right to request bloods to be taken to check everything is ok

I guess I would agree with her... I think... well I guess that I have loved having an ED. so I just leave the worrying up to the doctors. when they say its time to worry then I will worry... I guess... I dont like to worry to much about it though. but I would just try to advocate for yourself. and I guess just try to kind of demand that you get help for your ED. when I came to realize that having an ED was not healthy, I advocated for myself. And when I did that, I got what I wanted. Well, good luck!
