For the past several months I've been waking up in the middle of the night (usually between midnight & 3 a.m.) and eating. I'm not bingeing, but I am eating over the serving size of things and all I crave is something sweet. I've gained over 10 pounds since this started, I just got weighed at the doctor's yesterday and was horrified (I hate weighing myself, had an eating disorder in high school/college, got over it on my own but still have some residual issues).
Has anyone else had this issue with nighttime eating? How do you combat it? It's not sleep eating. I'm fully awake. I try to exercise self-control and am sometimes successful, but most of the time it's this uncontrollable urge that I can't get a handle on. I'd really appreciate a few tips on how to stop myself from doing this and how to overcome it, and any insight anyone has on this would be welcome. Thank you!

Maybe you could get something prescribed to help you with your sleeping since it seems to get disturbed every night. Do you snack throughout the day? I find having three snacks during the day in addition to 3 meals greatly reduces my hunger at night.
