Do I have an eating disorder? I don't know. We are gradually checking all the physical reasons that might be making me so nauseated. When and if we eliminate these I suppose we will move on to an emotional cause. Meanwhile it just seems like it takes forever to get to a point where I can be treated for nausea.
I use Gravol* 2-4 times a day to eat just enough so that I am only very gradually losing weight. I use Tylenol 3 for upper abdominal pain which seems to come and go over a period of weeks. I don't know what causes it.
I will be seeing a specialist (soon?) to check my stomach, liver, etc.
It will be good to get a diagnosis.

With eating disorders, you intentionally try to lose weight, which doesn't sound like what's happening with you. The nausea could be psychosomatic, but there are also a lot of physical problems that can cause nausea. Gastrointestinal diseases are notoriously hard to diagnose, but don't give up on getting answers or treatment.

. Hello dear jean17. Hi there and I'm glad you posted. I def agree with what our friend says, the one thing that people with eating disorders share is the driving need/want to loose weight, no matter how thin they may already be. Just try and hold out whilst the tests go on and try to eat anything you can, a little of anything is better than nothing. The problem with eating nothing for extended spells is that that in itself can make you feel very sick and somewhat "weird" and PLEASE make sure you are drinking ENOUGH. Please also come back and let us know how you are getting along. Xxxx

Im sorry but we can not tell you whether you have an eating disorder or not. what I can say is that there many different kinds of eating disorders....ie some are where the person is purposely losing weight, some kinds are where the person is purposely trying to gain weight, theres some kinds that involve over eating, or under eating, theres kinds that involve overeating and then purging, theres even a type of eating disorder for those with medical issues that cause them to be under or over weight. each type of eating disorder has their own grouping of symptoms, diagnostic criteria, behavior patterns.

examples the eating disorders in the DSM 5 are...
pica,
rumination disorder,
Advoidant/restrictive food intake disorder
anorexia nervosa
bulimia nervosa
binge eating disorder
other specified feeding or eating disorder
unspecified feeding or eating disorder

to find out whether or not you have one of these you will need to contact a medical doctor in your location and a therapist or psychiatrist in your location that can diagnose eating disorders. so I am glad you wrote you will be seeing a specialist about this soon.
